I went back to an oem charcoal canister, but the bottom connector was broken. The ac Delco unit was getting crushed and was still letting the gas tank pressurize. I really don't see how the oem unit can go bad. More likely I think the lines to it get clogged or the vsv stops working.
I ordered this canister from ebay, and the rubber vent connector at the bottom was busted off.
Also tore apart the canister.

Charcoal canister drip connector
Charcoal canister drip connector. This is a replacement for the rubber connector at the bottom of the canister. It's 90 degree connector that goes at the bottom. Just a part I needed for my vehicle so maybe you do to.
