Is it possible to convert this:

To this non sat nav (ie. top CLOCK and bottom AC controls

If so, doesn't anyone know what's required?

I would like to upgrade head unit to this:

From what I can see, I would need the Top Clock and the bottom AC controls

However, is the wiring plug and play if I was to buy these?

From what I understand, it's not possible (or at the very least, not easy).

The HVAC / Nav combo is integrated together in US trucks, and omitting the nav means no HVAC controls.

I haven't heard of anyone sourcing the non nav wiring / computer and retrofitting it into a nav truck.

Bummer!
I've seen some people replace the tape/radio bit at the bottom, maybe thats my only option

You would have thought the harness would have been standard and you just wire up what you need

There's been a couple people that have done it, but from what I understand it was a huge project. If you feel skilled enough to take it on then I say do it! And if you do it, make a write up. Then swapping out the nav might become more popular.

Yeh a lot of people get scared off

I'm keen, but would be good to hear from others that have done.
Really I just need to know what i need..... i.e. just the HVAC control panel and clock, and then deal with the re-wiring headache, or if there is a lot more i need to get

I'm in Kenya, so getting parts is a PITA, so can try and source locally or bring in from UK scrap yards when I visit family (trip planned soon)

I have not see this done, nor do I have any expertise in this area, but I just wanted to repeat that if you go down this road, please document it for the rest of us that are too scared to do this without instructions :)

In for a full write up with part numbers. I would absolutely do this if someone else had success.

Thanks guys
My first hurdle is seeing if I can buy the hvac controls from the 2ND pic and plug and play
If that's possible it's 80% of the head ache sorted

No idea who would know this... Unless I buy it and try

All;

The wiring exists in both the pre 2003 and 2003+ Nav equipped vehicles to do a one off swap. The requirements in each are that you source the correct HVAC amplifier and controls, acquire male connectors for the new HVAC (toyota lists these part numbers in the EWD/FSM), extract wires from existing connectors (toyota even has a tool for this) and insert the wires into the new connectors in the proper position.

Some of the conversion parts are not order able from toyota (the eyebrow display comes to mind). so you'll have to dig up from secondary sources.

Thanks Rob, thats great

So just to confirm, i'd need the following Parts

1) Top Eye brow Clock display thingy - Source from Scrap yard etc
2) HVAC Control face with buttons
3) HVAC Amplifier (does this amp sit behind the HVAC controls? or under seat? Any ideas of a part number?)
4) Male Connectors

I'm mostly unsure about the amplifer bit
Would you happen to have a part number or pic /diagram of this piece?

The hvac amplifier IS behind the controls.... if you had to assemble a panel from scratch there are more than a few individual P/N's.

Thanks, so I if I visit the scrap yard I go for clock, controls and amp
Worth grabbing anything else out of a written off car?

Do you know the Toy p/n for the tool used to dig out wiring from connector? I want to use this for stereo swap...

If it's pre 2003 just the complete center stack should do it. 2003+, good luck... you'd need a non-nav donor and those are rare.

I have one of the Breakers in the UK looking for the parts for me
As soon as I get them, i'll post back here with the progress
