Someone else had the carrier apart..

and those teeth did not just chip, they would be shiny like everything else if they had..

So what is the story on the "ball and claw" axels in the 62s? Why are they inferior to the axels in the 60s and 80s?

that would be 1962, not FJ62 ;)

Old cruiser style before the Birf..

Design and strength.

They are significantly weaker than an fing birfield.

The ball and claw design itself its not a weak design it is the very course spline, and the shafts that are weak. Please stop hating on my ball and claw. You can normally do ok with them when they're not locked. But if your looking for some axles to put in go with the later model axles with and disc and longifelds. If you think your hardcore enough.

And I think the ball and claws were in 40s up to 67, i think?? pretty sure

Nothing Jeep has ever built is good for your Cruiser.

I resent that! IMO my d300 is a far better design than early LC's, but it's Dana anyhow, just represented by Heep

I love this quote from the Aussie Locker page (go to >Service >Users)

http://www.offroadlockers.com/users.php/TM0b9aff/0cc3/.html

I order you an Aussie-locker a few month before. About 6 month before. It works very well in my Volvo 242 turbo. It´s made for Jeep dana30 front axle. But it fit in Volvo 200-series rear axle, because it is copy from dana´s axle.
In winter, when here is very much snow and ice, it was nice to drive when both rear tire spin. I don´t stay stuck in the snow once!
And in the summer it´s nice to burn out! Stupid, but funny as you see. :) Thank you very much, that you help me and send Aussie locker to me to Finland! I will reference this locker, if somebody look for a good locker in his Volvo or other car here in Finland.

Thank you Bill again.

Gotta love those Fins and their Swedish Iron!
