Got my CDL switch installed but there is obviously no instruction on how to use it. Does it have to be in park or neutral to activate or can if be switched on while in drive? If so, what speeds, would I be able to lock it in at 25 - 35 on a snow covered road or muddy fire road?

Thanks

You can engage while moving as long as your front and rear driveshafts are spinning the same speed - NOT when turning, not when a tire is spinning.

And at that, you can still press the button, the light just won't come on until the shafts are at the same speed.

How hard is the switch to install? I have a 96 w/ Factory lockers....

Is it in the FAQ section?

Thanks, I just checked the FAQ, and did not see it under Diff Mods. I will hit up Slee's site next.

Nobody has said it yet:

There's a plug behind the dash for the switch.

You both might as well do the Pin-7 mod as well so that you get full control over your CDL (see here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/2151-low-without-center-diff-locked.html)

By simply plugging in the switch, you are granted the ability to engage the CDL in HI. If you take it one step further and perform the simple Pin-7 mod (simple as finding and snipping a wire), you can UNLOCK your CDL in LOW, which is awesome for tight maneuvering in low without binding up. I did this additional step (+10 minutes) and am very pleased with the results.

What do you do when the security light is in that spot? Can that be moved or is the CDL plug located somewhere else?

It took me about 5 minutes. I moved the, IMO, antiquated antenna switch (although, I could not tell from the wiring diagram whether it was needed to close the loop) to the bottom row and slid the rear defrost and and hazard switched over to the right. I left the factory security sensor alone. Now the top row is security, CDL, hazard, rear defrost. Bottom row, antenna and rear heat. Originally I was going to cut the factory harness and move the CDL switch to the left of the wheel but just as I was about to do that I got a not so warm and fuzzy feeling about hacking the factory harness so I opted for this solution.

Oh, BTW, there is a factory plug behind the dash for the switch.
