Hey guys, I'm looking for a handheld CB for the new truck. Any reccomendations? What kind of range can I expect out of a handheld?

I'm also looking for reccomendations for an air compressor.

Has anyone ever used automatic tire deflators, something like this: http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/1664, or does everyone just run around with their tire guage.

Thanks

David

I just pull the valve cores and let it blow out and check it every couple of seconds to see where its at.
I have a Co2 tank for air.
Not sure about handhelds.

I had a handheld, pretty much worthless in the truck. Now have a Uniden 520XL from Fry's, good unit and very small. Don't know about mounting it in your rig, but I have it stuck to the console with Velcro and use a $9.99 mag mount wally world antenna, I just remove it between trail runs.

I have a handheld and I like it. It's a Cobra WST75 (???). I can hold the speaker right to my ear if the cruiser is too loud :D I usually just leave it on the seat next to me, but the handheld portion can be unplugged and stowed away for theft control.

I've been happy the Radio Shack model I got to replace a dead Cobra model while on a trip to Colorado. It needs like 9 AA batteries though.
I used it as the main radio in my van when we had it. Mag mount external ant. and a cig. lighter power adapter let it work as good as any regular radio. Not much good inside a vehicle without an external ant.

Yup, that's it. And I bought it from the NYC Electronics vendor there on Amazon.

The only other handheld I could find was Midlands, which seems to be more bulky. This one fits nicely and the controls are easy to use with one hand. I have the little box that it quick-connects to mounted under the seat, but this is on a FJ40.

I use with with an el cheapo RoadioShack Antenna; presumbly, the Cobra antenna they sell with it has better reach.

The one in the link is called a "all-in-handset" it has a box that mounts in the truck and the controls are in the mike. By handheld I was thinking of a walkie talkie type.

I started out wanting a handheld, but I think I've decided on the cobra in the above link. I stopped by CB Exchange on Main and about 64th St. today and talked to a guy in there about it. The cobra is his most popular radio. Couples with a Wilson antenna, called Lil Wil I think, and he says is a great combo for off road for under $200.

So what about air compressors, what do you guys like.

Thanks

David

Shop compressor?
Or
On board air?

On board air. The extreme air looks great, but my current budget will only allow something around $100. Are there any stores in Mesa that sell something like this?

Thanks

You can get theMV50's at Pay-N-Save for like $59 (buy 2). Pay-N-Save is on the SWC of Signal Butte and Main St.

Pep Boys has the MF-1050 Tsunami for $59 and a $10 rebate the last time I was there. The MV-50 and MF-1050 are the same unit, I have one of each, with your size tires one will work fine. Any small compressor with a lighter plug will be too slow these have battery clips.

The fastest way I have found to air down is removing the cores, The only tools needed are a core tool and tire gauge.

There's also one at Bell and 7th St (approx., look for the Pei Wei it's across the parking lot)

While you're there pick up a surround sound system and a set of patio chairs

Seriously that cheapo little compressor kicks butt!

Cool, I'll check Pep Boys, P&S in AJ didn't have any. BMan, how long ago did you see them there?

They do however sell roadside flares there. I've been looking everywhere for flares, and stumbled upon them there.
