Good evening CSC,
Does anyone know a mechanic that can help me with my wife's GX460 Engine and 4low light issue?
This is a known problem that I dont want to take to an average shop.

is this the P2714 and P0894 codes? if so, from what I understand it means the transmission is in need of rebuild. DTS (dennys transmission specialist) - the owner is the guy who drives ProJunk Nova - well known local grudge car.

Its the P2714 and P0761 codes that StriderWolf posted about in 2023.
I am just looking for a shop that has delt with this issue so we dont jump to "new transmission" in the first 3 min of trouble shooting the problem.

Well. I am only an EDT, but P2714 is a difference in the turbine speed, output shaft speed, and line pressure. Its the code for "im slipping" and a slipping transmission is a slipping transmission, no matter how much trouble shooting you put into it. P0761 "top fix probable cause" listed on everything is "replace transmission" - shift solenoids remaining closed. If you have TechStream you can hook up and see which solenoid is crapping the bed and replace it, but the odds of it fixing your issue are really slim.

Curious the year and mileage of the GX. Just traded our fifth generation 4Runner for a GX. While mine has the tow package doubt it was ever used. I have no plans of using it either. Will not see any hard off roading wear the transmission will generate excessive heat. The Luxury with an off road package has transmission cooler. Wondering if it's a good idea to add one here in the desert heat. Mine will see highway use but no stop go traffic in the heat. Very limited towing if any. My 2000 100 series replaced the transmission around 125K miles. My 89 FJ62 the shifting when cold was slow. Fluid change and cleaned the screen has solved that. Power of the fifth generation 4Runner on hills compared to our fourth generation 4Runner with a V8 was disappointing to my wife. Power and extra bells and whistles expect to have the GX a long time. Know the transmission cooler is a thread in the GX460.section. looking for opinions here in the Arizona desert.
