I went to go have the oil filer changed on the cruiser last night. (i know i should be doing it myself)

Anyway while under her watching the guys i had a look at the exhaust.... not a single 02 sensor to be found so I moved the cruiser over to the next garage and had them cut out the cats and resonator and replace it with straight pipe.

IT SOUNDS AWSOME! It’s the perfect balance, inside with the windows up you can’t hear a thing, wind the windows down and dump the throttle and it roars!!!!

Im so pleased :D

the video wont embed properly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhhHE0kN7RU&feature=youtu.be

nope, I could find no trace of any sensors any where, allthough they may have been reomved by a PO.

Im also 100% sure my truck isnt OBD compliant as its an older 98 ME spec. There are electronic dooohickies that you can pick up on Ebay that trick the 02 sensors.

interesting. I wish the US was that nice. I would have mine cut out in a heart beat. I removed the resonator. I do seem to have the loudest stock exhaust. I am always asked if I have aftermarket.

I had them do it in stages, first the cats out and then tested it... it was still very quiet, could barely hear the difference.

Then the resonator came off and she woke right up!

interesting.
For Woody....on my iPhone 4S i get the photos of the service pit underneath the cruiser etc and get to hear the video.
On my Mac Mini, OS X Lion (all up to date) on this thread....no pic links, just the link to the YouTube "Video" which is audio and that's fine.
Over to you.

Just fyi, in my "new exhaust pics" post on here (2009??), i posted links to some audio.
Startup and driving...they are both here....
Let me know if they work from the website as now with Mac OS X Lion i have to download them to hear them...and of course i already have them locally!
Index of /music

and if you want more, the last YouTube video at the bottom of page 4 of the Video Sticky is me, and a louder one on page 5.
cheers

About to do this as well.
Called and talked to Magnaflow today about what muffler to run.

Did it for you. I thought you were selling this thing?

Let me know what they say......appreciated. I think I am going to heat line what was previously the spare tire area and then tuck exhuast up a little higher....still trying to decide how to do the end of the pipe....parallel and flush with lowest part of body....cut hole in back of BIOR bumper and run it to there....etc.

Gunney, That does sound awsome!!

2000UZJ,
If you really want to remove your cats, you should be able to install the sensors in a replacement pipe section by cutting a hole in the pipe and then welding on flanges or adapters for mounting the sensors. A speed shop may be able to point you in the right direction as to where you can get the adapters; or you can make them yourself. Shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Just a thought!

Hey Brock, are you seriously considering this? I've got a BIOR rear and am still contemplating what to do with mine once I hack out the resonator.
