Which did they recommend?

5x11x22 oval body was there recommendation based on what i wanted. He said he oval bodies are quieter than the round bodies.

I told him i would like it to be relatively quiet at idle and cruising speed, but throaty on acceleration.

I am going to remove the resonator and see what it sounds like first before replacing the muffler. Any one have a sound clip of this?

Also, personally i wouldn't ruin my rear bumper to place the exhaust through it unless that is a look you are really wanting. I would just do something like we do on the FJs. This is the allpro high clearance exhaust.

2.5 in in/out size correct? I've been going back and forth between the 18, 22, and 24 ".

Is there a problem with hacking off the resonator to see how it sounds and leaving the piping where the resonator ends (temporarily until bringing it to a muffler shop to extend the pipe to the rear?)

Hey Brock, are you seriously considering this? I've got a BIOR rear and am still contemplating what to do with mine once I hack out the resonator.

yep but wont decide until I see how the pipe looks once tucked up higher and how it will work....it will compromise the powder coating and not sure how that will handle the heat...so not sure if going to cut a hole or just angle it down and cut it off even with lowest point of bumper... i will post it when it happens...likely be this Spring or early Summer.

yep tha tis my other option I was talking about....bend down and flush with lowest point of bumper... :hillbilly:

I think so. From the research i have done the stock exhaust is like 2.25-2.35". So this should be able to slide right over then be welded/soldered in place.

Anyone know how long the stock muffler is?

Also, i just went took a look at the resonator. There are two mounts that hold it in place and both are attached to the resonator, not the piping. So, if you cut off the resonator you also cut off the support to the piping. If you just cut it off the piping might bend enough to be able to rattle on the frame, not sure. It would be a cheap fix at an exhaust shop though. Take less than 10 minutes.

I'll probably just keep it tucked up nicely under the truck. Cutting a hole in the bumper doesn't seem like the greatest solution.
