They can have mine, I have theft insurance and could use new cats anyway...

If someone tries to cut my cat they probably won't be able to find it. I have a Magnaflow and it is only slightly larger than my pipe...and encrusted in nice hard GA dirt and silt. I don't think you could even get a sawzall in there anymore due to slee, etc...but I bet in a quick second, knowing what they are looking for, and seeing my mutant truck, they would peek, think it was removed for a straight pipe, and move on.

It’s an issue here in Utah as well. The thefts target mass transit parking lots. Scrap yard pay around $50.00 per cat. Not bad money for 5 minutes worth of work.

There was a move here in AZ to have metal salvage companies to operate more like pawn shops with customers providing ID and whatnot when selling.

We, like alot of the country, have really bad tweaker problems.

Mannnnn, I really like my HannaQuality Sliders.

I purchased toyota catalytic converter a week ago until I watch this on tv.... it says "It's the rhodium they are after.. Said metal is expensive but catcons usually have them in small quantities... That's why they steal a lot of them.. A market must be ready for these stolen catcons though.. A crook would definitely not have an idea how to get that rhodium from cats.. Another problem is police can't trace them cause cats don't have serial numbers on them or anything..."

I can confirm it's happening in Abbotsford now as well. Though most of us here with cruisers are immune because the majority of the trucks are diesels.

So I'm thinking I might at least Dremel my VIN on a new cat, is might only be like farting in the wind, but you never know.

Hook a hot wire up to the cat...when you shut down flick a switch and electrify the cat....should provide a second thought! :)

Had mine stolen a few weeks ago off my Impala SS. Seems pretty pathetic considering how low an Impala SS sits, that some one would want to slide under there and cut them out with a hacksaw.

I also sold some converters I had left over from a Mustang for $14.99 a piece on ebay (which probably had 150 miles on them) but I see a bunch of converters going for $75-$80 apiece. I guess some are worth more than others???

I am sorry to hear about your stolen cat. :frown: And oh yeah I would also thought that a Mustang cat would be a bit pricey.
