I'm surprised to see nada when I search Dorman Exhaust Manifold in the forum. Anyone ever used the dormant exhaust manifold? I've got a leak at the Y-pipe and my exhaust shop is worried that the OEM exhaust metal is too brittle to weld.

Possibly because Dorman doesn't list the Y-pipe. Only the manifolds which seem to last forever.

What you're looking for is this, although you didn't give any vehicle details so I'm guessing here.

Exactly right. Thanks @jonheld for handling my newbie question. I should have laid eyes on it rather than ask my question based on my phone call with the exhaust shop.

LOL, yeah, the clue was "too brittle to weld"... There is not a damn thing brittle about those cast manifolds ! Well, that and "Y" pipe.

I bought the Magnaflow Y pipe / cat a few months ago. Lots of conversation for a while about people getting a Bosal of inferior quality in a MagnaFlow box after MagnaFlow bought Bosal. Mine was the higher quality MagnaFlow, but something you might want to look out for.

Thanks,

Jason

So after reading tons of threads about the y-pipe and catalytic converter I'm torn. Save $250 by going with a Eastern or Walker or roll the dice ordering a MagnaFlow and hope I don't get a Bosal. What do y'all think?

Order the MagnaFlow from O'Reilly, if you get a Bosal send it back. I told them what the deal was up front, and that I wasn't going to take it if it was a Bosal. Even showed them some pics from the threads here.

Good luck,

Jason

I’ve got a factory Ypipe you can have for 30 bucks plus shipping, only problem is I had to cut it off short because the previous owner did a horrible rotation on the cats and did a horrible job welding it back together.
It’s off a SoCal truck

After my experience with Magnaflow buy a Walker. There are options on Rockauto and there is a 5% discount code everywhere

I have ordered (4) of the Magnaflow Y-pipe units (Non-CA Smog version) and have not had an issue with any of them being Bosal.

I think the CA-Smog ones are the ones with the issue.

I ordered in (4) through O'Reilly's because I can and I ended up buying two so I could have one now and one for a few years from now, in the event that they are NLA.

Here's a complete part number listing from another thread.
