CarPlay works in a 2020 Land Cruiser

The factory Qi charger will charge your phone while using wireless CarPlay.

Few questions for you since you had the work done.

When using wired CarPlay is it charging your phone enough that you're adding % while it being in that heavy use? Via that menu, is it possible to turn charge off so you can use the LC Qi charger or 3rd party fast Qi charger?

Would there be any benefit of keeping the factory USB and installing the NP USB in a second location?

Do you think the IR sensor should be part of the "permanent" install? Or done for initial config/install then removed and set aside?

My shop installed the USB charger in the factory location, and it charges on wired CarPlay. However, wireless CarPlay works great. You can find a 12V faster charger 2.1A or more that will charge the phone much better and use the 12V socket for that. That is what I do.

The IR sensor is for the initial config / install and can then be set aside. Same thing with the remote.

Thanks for the quick reply. My issue is NP doesn't do wireless Android Auto so I'm tied to using the wire for charge and data, so was trying to set my expectations ahead of my unit being installed on what my charge situation would be. Thanks for the input!

Interesting less invasive option... no Bluetooth though
CarPlay

I believe this was the intended link from @jefo13. It completely defeats the whole point of the NaviPlus and similar options though because it uses a separate display - it doesn't integrate with the factory screen.

When installing using the factory USB, does that prevent the head unit from recognizing a flash drive for picture upload and software updates?

Plug in a flash drive with mp3s or an iPod and see if the audio source (factory “USB”) recognizes it.
I guess I'm not as funny as I think I am. . .
The NaviPlus USB jack is round. The stock USB/Aux jack is square (rectangular). @dnh1's installer put the round jack in the square hole. Or, they spliced the factory jack into the NaviPlus harness.

I’m sure you’re funny but I just missed the reference.

I feel like you think I made this up. They spliced it.

There is an adapter. It bypasses the factory unit and connects to the aftermarket. So no new factory updates via usb...

Not at all. It's just unusual to find a shop that forward-thinking and with that level of service. Glad you have such a resource.

Grom sells the adapter with their unit. Pretty common feature with aftermarket stereos...

Any chance you have a link for this type of adapter?

No. But it is made by PAC iirc. Probably on the Grom site. I have one not installed somewhere. Will take a pic later.
