Resistive or capacitive.... how do i find out which one i have in my 2018?
If it is capacitive, the screen will only respond to touches from a finger (or other similarly charge-conductive material). If it is resistive, the screen will respond to anything touching it. E.g., try touching screen buttons with something that is plastic. If the screen responds, it is resistive. If not, it is capacitive.
The web pages for these aftermarket units also seem so call out July 2018 as the LC build date that switched over to capacitive screens.

Yes. I can actually switch phone calls between the two. Sometimes when I tell it to play something music wise, it will change to the car bluetooth. I am still playing with it all. You certainly know more about it than me, having installed it yourself. I am just happy to have it!
Eric, my steering wheel controls (other than volume) do not work either. I don't believe you used the USB connection provided by NaviPlus, but it does not charge my phone (iPhone 11 Pro Max). It seems to be strictly a control connection for CarPlay.
I have an email in to NaviPlus on these issues, as well as the fact that I can't connect wirelessly. I can plug in, then unplug and get wireless connection but I can't launch CarPlay via wireless.
I may have a defective unit, but so far I'm not impressed.
Mine connects wirelessly only if the phone is locked. If I have it open it does not. I can open it after it connects.
My issue is related to the wireless connection between the NaviPlus module and my phone. Locked or unlocked, same behavior.
Do your steering wheel controls work as they should?
Only volume works. I am not sure what else it supposed to work with them.

I would video it but I can't because I can't video on my phone when I am using CarPlay. But, 100% I can do this.

Sorry, might have missed something, but does the stock Qi charger not work with the NP wireless carplay or do you just not use it because of the location of the charger? Agree on the location not being ideal but it is workable for me (better than not having one). However if the stock Qi charger doesn't work with NP wireless carplay that is a deal breaker for me on the NP solution.
My shop fit my Naviplus USB into the stock USB charger location. It does charge my iPhone using a standard apple USB to Lightning charger. It does allow a wired connection for CarPlay.
I prefer to use a coiled 12V lightning charger and wirelessly connect, I don't know why.
The factory Qi charger will charge your phone while using wireless CarPlay.
Eric, my SWCs weren’t working either. I chatted with NaviPlus yesterday and they advised you need to initialize them via the procedure below. This is the “mystery” purpose of the IR receiver and remote. I followed these instructions and they now work as intended.
This document shows how to calibrate the touch screen, and some other settings to verify.
Lastly, they recommend a wireless charging cradle for fast charging. Their current chip doesn’t support it.
