CarPlay works in a 2020 Land Cruiser

I have played with the unit now for a little while. My install guys were great. It was $485 after tax but worth every penny. They used the factory USB port, and located the mic up near the mirror just like @Eric Sarjeant did. Eric made his tech available by phone, and they did make one call to him at the very end of the day.
I am very happy with the unit. A few things I wanted to note were that the unit is up and running by the time the Toyota head unit works through the warning screen. In fact, I can go ahead and press the Nav button before the Toyota system boots and it immediately starts to connect wirelessly to my iPhone via car play. It takes I suppose 3-4 seconds to connect and its up and running.
I have been using it to send texts, to play music, make calls, find directions with Google maps, etc. I think it is really cool to be able to use the sat overlay on google maps. The traffic overlay is much better of course than on the factory system.
You can arrange the apps however you want by doing it on your phone in CarPlay. As soon as you download a new app on the phone, it appears on this CarPlay unit.
The only small "glitch" I have seen is that when the Toyota system places a "bar" at the nav screen for something like a volume change, it will every now and then result in a blank on the CarPlay screen for a split second. Does not bother me at all. These are from Eric's post.

You are welcome. I feel like this one is the real deal. Everything else was just phone mirroring or something. I love my LC but am a techie type guy and hated not having CarPlay. It really is so much safer than me staring at my phone and trying to drive at the same time to get directions, etc. I feel like I got a new truck . . . .

Yes, it does seem high quality. It does not seem cheap by any means.

And just to be clear it uses the stock toyota screen assembly? Just adds modules to interrupt/add features to the things being displayed on it?
Correct. These guys obviously spent a lot of time designing it to work like that. All you do it hold down the NAV button for about a full second and it switches over to CarPlay. Calls, etc. all work perfectly.
This doesn’t void factory warranty? Watched some install videos and that is a ton of connections that are being made, bypassed, or modified. What’s to say if this thing s***s the bed it doesn’t take something else out with it? Electrically ignorant so genuinely curious.
I placed my order on Sunday. Delivery scheduled for today. Now that's service.
The unit is plug-and-play, so little to be concerned about.
I don't know man. It's worth the risk to me. I had the head unit go out on my 08 LC 200 once. I had previously placed a GPS bypass system in it where you could watch movies etc while driving. The local dealer replaced the head unit under warranty and said nothing about the bypass.

I’d consider that fortunate and unlikely.
Were anyone to have issues with this system I think it would be very wise to remove it before bringing to a dealer so you don’t get flagged as having it modified and likely voiding warranty.
Did you buy the adapters for the steering wheel controls and wireless CarPlay? If so, everything work well there?
Yes. It all works perfectly.
I’ve reached out to Naviplus in Australia and they’re willing to offer a group buy. No details yet as to the quantity required or how much of a discount, but I assume over $100 because they offered a coupon code APR5 for $100 off of any unit. The code is for mud members that can’t wait for the group buy to end.

This is great! FYI, it's important to note that the 2018 year is split up into to types of head unit from Naviplus. So it's actually 2016-2018 (resistive screen) and 2018+ (capacitive screen) for the breakdown of these Naviplus units. I happen to have a 2018 with the resistive screen, and thus would be in the 2016-2018 group.
[edit] Also, their site seems to lump 2015 in with 2016-2017 (and 2018 resistive).
I just wrapped up my install. The instructions are the weak point in the process, but NaviPlus is fairly responsive via email. Disassembling the dash is really very simple, and the videos in this thread are very helpful. Total installation time (and I had a lot of issues with the cabling which ate hours) was about 6 hours. If I had to do it again, 2 hours max.
Unfortunately, I now have a dead battery. I suspect it's due to the doors of my LC being open for 6 hours and not something to do with the installation. She started via my jump pack, and I'm charging the battery now.
