I replaced my front carpet in my 2003 this morning and did a brief summary of the install with pictures here. This may be interesting to some of you.:)

Looks great, nice improvement. Amazing how some people treat their vehicles.

Black carpet would look awesome in a hundy with brown interior...add some contrast

Very nice job I did mine over the last 2 weeks but could not afford to replace them so had to clean them with a rug doctor. They came up a treat.

Would be interested to find out the cost of your carpet replacement as its very expensive here in the UK.

How about some details on where and how much did the replacement carpet cost?

I got employee pricing from a Colorado Toyota dealer. This is substantially less than the list price (~40% less) but still not cheap by any stretch. I apologize for being vague but I don't want to shoot my "golden parts goose."
:flipoff2:

Nice thread.

Did you happen to install any sound insulation ala Dynamat?

I did not install any additional sound deadening material. I have not had an issue with sound, have you? I have had this vehicle for 10 days so might be missing something...

I almost posted the same Q earlier. I agree that the 100 is pretty darn quiet out of the factory box. My only thought was since it's a pretty rare event to pull out the carpet that would certainly be the time to do it!

I would like to hear where you guys would want additional sound insulation. After pulling the carpet out once I would do it again. In fact the dealer only charges 2.5 hours of shop time to R&R the carpet. The first time it will take you ~4 hours if you have not pulled lots of Toyota interiors apart.

Mendocino - I've got a '99 LC and have a box of Dynamat in the basement to put on starting with the four doors.

IIRC, the LX has more sound proofing/insulation than the LC - at least that's what the research said when I bought the LC 6 yrs. ago. (Maybe the LX owners can verify or disprove that).

I'd assume the '03 may be similar since "most" vehicles' sound proofing can be improved upon...

As far as what to soundproof, I'd start w/ the four doors, then the floor working from front to back (especially over the wheel wells), then last the headliner.

2 cents

Thanks, I appreciate the direction and advice. I guess I'll have to start researching this...:)

That's strange, I just tried a fresh browser with clean cache and it worked for me.:hhmm:

I can't load the site either, although could be a proxy issue. I want to replace the carpet in my 2003 LC as well since it wasn't taken care of very well (I have no idea how they got it so dirty/stained) so I'm anxious to look at the pictures to see how hard.

Do you know the list price for the carpet from Toyota?

I got a quote from Riverview Toyota in Mesa AZ for ~$1600 for the front and cargo sections.
