Im am going to be removing the factory carpet from the floor of the cargo area in my 85 BJ60. Im doing this because I struggle to keep it clean/dry. I often sleep in it when im camping so im always avoiding hauling things around that may or may not get the cargo area carpet dirty; such as my dog. I was thinking I would spray the metal floor with a spray on box liner material, which would be ideal and easy cleaning and keep the floor dry.

What would you guy do or what have you done? Is there a vinyl option that can be ordered somewhere?

There are as many options here as there are tire choices, I have duraback smooth paint , sound deadining paint(second skin) heat insulation and 1/2 inch closed cell foam with the liner that Specter Off Road(black rubber with the diamond pattern) on top of that but then I am crazy. Again do what you need to be comfortable back there and keep it clean as well. Post up some pic's of what ever you decide, someone will learn from it. :D

I used double sided insulation that was passed on too me from a fellow Mudder. Easy to work with and great sound deadening qualities. The floor mat is a 3/4 gym flooring mat. You can also use a horse stall mat from Tractor Supply Co.
Easy to maintain and the Lab loves it! :D

I have had the aforementioned tractor supply horse stall mat for a year and it has worked out very well.

In my first 60 that went wheels up (sniff), I put down some extra Pergo (vinyl wooden flooring) that I had lying around that looked great and worked surprisingly well. My present rig got the carpet torn out and Hurculiner applied. I would recommend both.

Stall mat, this is only 3/8s I believe. They also have 1/2" and 1/4" cut to length. I love it, Mine has no smell whatsoever bought from Dels farm supply.

This is what I want!!!!!

I did the same thing except I got my piece from the old weight room. I took the carpet out, traced around it onto the ruber and cut it with a jig saw.

I'm looking for options for my 55. I really like the stall mat idea. How did you guys fasten it, to the tailgate.

Thanks, Ron
