Hi All -
I rebuilt my '70 FJ40 carb a few years ago. It was the first carb that I rebuilt - so I took my time. The 40 has pretty much sat in my driveway for the last few years as I work on restoring it (i.e. I have not been driving it a lot). However, I start it up and run it on a regular basis. Not too long after the carb rebuild, I had significant problems with hesitation on acceleration. I figured I did something wrong in the carb rebuild. Today, I pulled the carb and this is what I found.
As you can see, the o-ring on the accelerator plunger is toast - hence the acceleration issues. Anyone have any ideas how to remedy this problem. I think I read that the original plungers used a leather ring instead of the rubber.
Thanks,
Stoshzack
