In Florida (and I'm sure other hot states) it's important to have working.

Mine stopped; if i tap housing, it would run . . .

Took it off (removed hood lift/hinge)

Unscrew nut from squirrel cage blower to motor shaft.

Unscrew 3 phillips head screws holding motor to housing.

Pulled motor from housing (there's a rubber gasket that makes it want to 'stick' to housing)
Noote: some washers, for spacing, between white plastic squirrel cage & motor.

Rubber gasket over output end of motor & mount legs comes off; careful, don't rip or tear it.

Two phillips head screws hold motor brushplate to motor housing; remove the 2 screws.

Grab motor shaft & pull hard; magnetic field is resisting you.

My motor housing was so full of 'damp' carbon dust, it gummed up rotation.

Air clean every thing.

3n1 oil shaft & bearing surfaces.

Reassembly of motor is above in reverse.
Note: magnetic filed will play with you as you line up shaft to 'blind' bearing in end of motor housing - be patient, it will 'go'....

All put back together & works like a champ ! beer:

Hope this helps someone else . . .

Carbon dust

Brushes maybe? Wonder if Toyota used the same motor style as the one for the a/c blower?

Good hint to know, mine is currently working after god alone knows how many years being disconnected, so I'll do a PM on it some weekend and get some good electric cleaner spray and hopefully it'll outlast me!

That great! I have found dirt and dust seem to be the problem on many things in the cruisers. Yhanks, MIke

Mine squeals real bad. I bet this is my problem...

Thanks soggy60!

To all, you're welcome.

The carb cooling motor, interior heater/Ac blower, underseat heater motor use same brushes.

"I think" the windshield (headlamp), rear window washer motors are swappable....

There was a lot of brush material left on the carb cooler motor; the dust had just jammed the 'space' between pole and rotor....reember, this motor is on it's 'side' , the inside cabin blowers are verticle, so dust settles below rotating parts.

I found replacment brushes at a marine center: they're from an OMC outborad engine tilt motor....

I disassembled mine and cleaned it as well a year ago. I used Electric motor cleaner- comes in an aerosol can. The contacts in the motor were dirty. Some old threads talk about the same problem with the A/C fan motor. Nothing like fixing something for the cost of a can of electric cleaner! Sometimes the simplest things provide the greatest pleasure.
