Looking to get a 100 series or a 1st gen Sequoia to get for a dailyish driver to keep miles off my diesel and sports car, want something I can light wheel (I've had multiple rock crawlers). I plan to park this in CO, UT, WY for a few months and split my time working remotely and hitting the slopes by flying back and forth. Given the costs of hotels/airbnbs in those states I'll probably car camp inside depending on where I am. I'm 6ft and 200lbs so a stocky gent, My idea would be to get a rear platform with pull-out drawers. Some of the trip will be with friends so I will have their gear as well and mountain hop. In middle school my mom had a LX470 and I just love the looks.

The build would be basic of tires, lift, sliders, bumpers, roof rack and a cargo box to store the boards or board rack. I know the aftermarket for the 1st gen tree is super limited but I really want something I can wheel with my buddy and travel, MPG isn't a concern as I won't bring my big diesel on 37s because of costs and size

Not sure what the question is, but: do it! :-)

there are quite a few thread of rear build outs, removing 2nd/ 3rd row in a 100. I'd guess you find some info on how long the bed would be and similar. You can build a platform, buy one, both possible. also a few brackets available for an even surface.

I'd ask myself the question about fuel consumption, size inside for sleeping vs. size outside for offroad/ trails.

Sounds like you found the ideal platform. If MPGs aren't a concern the 100 series is the ticket.

I can wheel this thing pretty hard in 4low and then transition back out onto the highway later that day with ease. I sleep two + a dog in my setup thanks to this

Way more cargo capacity than drawers allow. Remove the middle row seats + add platform support for even more space

Could probably get the setup that fits the fridge on one side and you sleep on the other, or just get a cooler and use the entire platform space for sleeping. I can fit a queen size on this the next size down fits nicer.

Don't lift it too much, it doesn't need it based on what you are trying to do with it and the IFS can only handle so much.. Get some strong tires, maintain it, and enjoy

The 100 is a great platform for your intended use. With the right drawers/ platform you can fit a full size air mattress. With gear, you can definitely do a twin size mattress or sleeping pad.

Yeah I was considering a GX470 but I just won't fit
I've got a GX470 as well, I've never run a tape measure but the sizing seems very similar. I think my head space is even more in the GX because the way it has the rear vents along the side instead of across the center like in the 100.

The link I posted earlier , the guys at air down gear up, make platforms for both the 100 and the GX470. Should hit them up and ask which platform is bigger or if they are similar size.

Although, the GX doesn't have a handle inside the rear door hatch so getting out from sleep mode may require the side doors instead.

I am your size, maybe 205# and I sleep in the back of mine. Give it a shot

you can have my old platform located in St. Louis for free.

Thanks it's either one of these or a 1st Gen Tree which I do love the interior size of but my mom had a 2001 LX470 as a kid so I have a soft spot for them

That's what it was down to when I found my 100. Almost pulled the trigger on a 1st Gen in Phoenix but got bad vibes at the finish line (regarding a local inspection by a friend of mine) from the seller and bagged. For your purposes I feel like you're good either way.

We've done a bunch of sleep systems in each. The Sequoia is enormous. If you need space, it's amazing. For a single guy and maybe a buddy, the Sequoia seems like some overkill. The 100 is a much nicer vehicle in most every way except cargo space, IMO. The 100 isn't exactly tiny itself.

Our 100 sleeper has 6' of sleeping length straight, and much more at an angle. The Sequoia system is a few inches longer, but then has a ton of excess headroom. For wheeling, the 100 wins hands down. The Sequoia has a bunch of overhang and limited aftermarket support (because if you want that drivetrain in a capable off-roader you just buy the 100).

Let us know if we can help you outfit it. We've got the sleeper concept refined pretty well. :)

i've been monitoring the sleeper concept over the years (yes, I have my ideas....implementation is the hard part).

I went to your listed website (yotamd) but didn't see anything sleep related. Am I missing something?

Note that the pictures on the site for the 100 still show our old down-rev birch, but everything we make now is all black in color with improved protective coatings top and bottom.

Happy to answer any questions!
