Whats wrong with the filter you have,it is superior in every way to anything K&N have?

X2 K&N's are junk and should only be used on a small 2 stroke motor! Sure they have good flow, but they don't filter worth a s***!

mine is the original one, i don't think mine is better
what i want to know is (what the name for my car in K&N's website) thank you

They probably dont make one for a 2006 FJ71 because they are already a fast car.:D

they leave more air get to your engine via less filtration, but they also leave more dirt through. its a documented fact. your engine wont like it.

Thats for sure ,there is a strong correlation between airflow and filtration.Lots of airfow = less filtration.

However ,there is evidence around that says that not only is the K&N filtration poor,it also has bad airflow compared to some OEM paper filters;)

same air filter as all HD 70 series diesel and gas, 60 series diesel and gas, 40 series diesel and very early gas
either one of these will work just fine:
E-2440 - K&N Replacement Filters, Replacement Air Filter
E-2443 - K&N Replacement Filters, Replacement Air Filter

i DO NOT recommend running one though unless you are doing ONLY pavement highways.
but seriously, if you want to play the horsepower game then slap a S/C on with the proper engine mods and go play with the big boys.

guys, if someone wants to believe the hype then why should we care?

we should have a sticky for:
K&N: why is it bad for your engine
2LTE/KZTE: why Toyota dropped the ball
open front reverse pinion center units: run

I use the OEM hdj 79 air filter,no grim in my turbo ,seems to work great.

"2LTE/KZTE: why Toyota dropped the ball"

These two fine examples already have plenty of horsepower.:D

thank you all, it been helpful i think I'll pass with k&n and start looking for something else
thank you again

The point is,its unlikely you will get the same protection and horsepower from anything but the OEM style filter.
Ive asked a Toyota diesel mechanic and a motorcycle mechanic who have both tested K&N filters on the dyno and they both said there was a slight drop off in power compared to the disposable paper type filter.

I Use stock air filters on my 1.5BAR boost 13B-T and no issue with DIRT or DUST.

Would not trust a K&N filter to filter out fine BULLDUST or anyother dirt. They also clog up with DUST and actually let less AIR through as they are smaller in overall surface area than a FACTORY filer.

The thing that got me off of K&N was one day when I was cleaning one for my ATV and after cleaning and oiling I held the element up to the light and saw pin holes all over it... It went in the garbage and I went back to a dense foam filter oiled with a sticky filter oil...

I would consider a K&N for a pre cleaner on a snorkel but not for primary filtration...

I know friends of mine that actually noticed shorter life out of top ends on their 2 stroke bikes because of poor filtration with K&N... They also went back to foam and have since enjoyed long lasting engine work!

I know your decision is already made, I just wanted to add my first hand experience for the filter that lasts the life of your engine! There is a reason for that, lol!

Cheers

These are great, this is for a hdj-79 not sure if there the same through out all engines

I think they are the same from 40 series to 2006 or whenever the square type came in.

Another thing I think makes the Toyota filtration superior is the filter box. Having the filter exposed like the K&N filters are ,exposes them to a whirlwind of dust and debris kicked up by the fan and the speed of the vehicle.
I guess theoretically,a snorkel should extend the life of the filter in all situations, not just on dusty roads.

the only ones i have seen different were the 2F engines
and
those were crappy design.

these round ones are MUCH better ... InMyNotSoHumbleOpinion
