Washing up the undercarriage from the weekend's adventure, and I see this. I've never dealt with alignments, or removing LCA's, but I'm thinking I hit something that torqued the LCA and moved the bolt flattening the gusset. Is that what I'm looking at?

Given the mis-matched green paint marks, and the fresh scrapes. this will require at a minimum removing the cam bolt, yes? I'm at 175K, so maybe thinking just refresh the LCA altogether, do balljoints and bushings, and the reinforced cam tabs.

This is a common Toyota problem. A good shop can bend it back during alignment and it will be fine until you bash it on a rock again.

Several aftermarket companies also make weld on tab solutions that are way beefier.

Poly Performance makes a replacement kit that works with the Total Chaos weld in tabs. It replaces the cam bolts and moves to alignment plates and big old bolts locking the alignment. Once done it WILL NOT move or get out of alignment.

I really liked the marlin crawler HDLCA plates.
They were easy to weld into place without needing to cut out the old ones. Way overkill, but will act as a backstop for the cam tabs.
TC tabs would be my second choice, but there would be a lot more prep work.
I like those a lot! I think that’s what I’m going to do. I know my Offroad self……”that doesn’t look toooooooo bad” (as I cringe and dive right in). 😎

@OCGX have you fit these MC frame braces on a GX460? MC just emailed me back saying they have not confirmed fitment for a 460. Looking to see if someone has........
Yes, installed on my 460. It was a tight fit around the drivers side diff mount, we took off a little extra material when beveling the edges.

You should let Marlin know, when I called they weren't aware of any attempts on a 460. And the 460 had a larger diameter bolt and corresponding slot as compared to the 470.

Anyway, got the TC tabs on and holy cow, that looks better. Never expect to deal with this again for the life of the truck. In for an alignment tomorrow. Got a BMC while they had the welder out. Plans for bigger tires...

I dropped the 460 off at SSO yesterday. They are doing a BMC and installing the MC LCA frame brace kit for the T4R. I plan to take some pics while it's up on the lift to send back to MC.

It's done. I couldn't get any pics on the lift as they had another rig on it when I got there. But I took a few when I got home.......

First 2 are driver's side. Second 2 are passenger side. In the 2nd and 4th pics if you look close you can see where he had to modify the stock skid plate to keep it from hitting the gussets. That was the ONLY modification that needed to be done. Thanks to @OCGX for confirming fitment before purchase!

Didn't realize that type of kit was an option, I have only seen the simple tab replacements that are beefier. What's the install like? Can these be done without LCA removal?

Not recommended as it would burn the bushing.

Big Mike at MC has a video and says you don’t have to remove anything. He recommends alternating from gusset to gusset doing one short bead at a time. Unfortunately for me, the mechanic at SSO insisted it couldn’t be done any other way. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Thankfully I have the 3 year alignment deal at NTB. So it was just my time that was spent on that. 🙄
