So i misread some humps in the dunes last weekend, and my 2012 gx460 took some air.

I don't have any weight other than 2 medium lights, but the impact was harsh, 3 times.

I dont have a dual battery setup in the engine bay, I use a portable power station time to time, which I put in the cargo area.

Is that the metal fender or the plastic inner liners?

That reminds me of the Fj cruiser inner fender tears/cracks that were common in the early years before they supposedly altered how the fenders were made to strengthen them.
I am trying to think of a vender that had a solution for the Fj cruisers. Maybe something you could copy. Someone used to sell a fender brace type kit that could be put on to strengthen Fj cruisers. I’m thinking it was someone out west in California region where prerunner driving or dune driving was more common. I keep thinking about demello off-road but i don’t think they brought anything to market like that.

You might reach out to people who carry products for gx and see if they have had customers who needed a solution like yours.

thanks, yes the FJC had a similar issue, and the prado 150 in australia due to dealer installed bull bars by ARB, I have posted on the facebook group just GX460, and getting some solutions, drill hole to stop the crack spreading and weld the crack

Not just weld the cracks, but also add welded strips/straps in the affected area. Just welding it again, unless you promise never to jump your GX again, will just cause it to re-tear. Welding will weaken the material, so reinforcing it is a must to avoid future issues.

If it were my rig, I'd grind paint off the areas, clamp a thin trip of 1/8" flat strap to them, spot weld the flat strap to the sheetmetal, and hit it up with black spray paint.

Anecdotally, GXs don't seem to do well getting jumped. I recall another post on here where someone shattered their sunroof glass and bent numerous body panels on a jump. In watching an old episode of Truck Night in America, another guy blew his airbags after landing a bit too nose-heavy.

yes thank god, I switch off all the traction/abs/airbags, otherwise I would be replacing airbags by now
