I’ve been thinking I need a dash camera. There’s a lot of choices but does any one have experience with their GX?

I went through this exercise this Spring. I ended up with Garmin as I am heavily invested in Garmin already, even the dogs run Garmin collars and I use a Garmin Alpha for them. Ran across Josh’s Cars of Japan video where he compares the Garmin Dash Cams the Mini 2, 47, and 67W in his GX 460. I started with the 67W but ended up with the 67 the 67W was too wide and distorted for what I wanted.

It has parking guard and a battery that is good for ~half an hour after you kill power. If you are looking for a true parking guard system you really need a front facing camera with rear built in it to see the sides plus a rear camera. Too much for what I wanted and you would need to run power full time to them not just switched power. I'm happy with the 67 for what it is.

For power Dongar makes a power adaptor that makes it easy to install without running cable under the headliner or A frame pillars. Looks like you have a 19 as well and which one you need depends on if you have LDA or Automatic High Beam System. I have both and got the wrong cable the first time. Right now Dongar has a 30% off sale.

10 pin w/o Automatic High Beam System

14 pin LDA and w/ Auto High Beam System

Pretty sure those are correct although I didn't take notes like I usually do. They also sell them on Amazon but they don't look like they are on sale there.

GX Bob has a video on installing the 10 pin. The 14 pin is more complicated as to be expected. I did find a video on how to install it but can't find it right now. The 10 pin install by GX Bob if that is what you need

Really isn't a hard install at all either way. And am pleased with it although I never use or check it. But if ever needed it know that it is there. I don't pay for the cloud storage and carry a spare card to swap out if I ever needed the footage. Unlike Bob I installed my camera behind the mirror so that I don't have to look at it and it doesn't block my view in anyway. When you epoxy that circular piece to the window it is there and there good. So make sure of your placement before sticking it on. With the Garmin mounting system I can move it to the buggy, or another vehicle if I wanted to, in a matter of seconds.

I have viofo wm1 with a custom housing. Six months, no issues so far.

You don't need a “dongar” or any other 3rd party cables. Toyota makes original adapters for like $30. Part number is PT949-48210.

Worked just great for my 23 gx460.
Also fits a bunch of other modern toyota and lexus.

That one only works on 22 and 23's. The OP lists his vehicle as a 2019 and the PT949-48210 will not work. The Dongar adaptors listed are the correct ones for him.

Thanks for all the reply’s and suggestions! I just ordered a Dongar harness. Now to pick one one the 1000’s of cameras to choose from!

Anyone know if the Dongar adapter works with pre 2017 models? I have a 2014 Luxury without the auto high beams. The site says 2017-2023.

If no one knows, I'll go see if mine has a 10 pin connector.

The 10 pin Dongar is what I used in my 2013.
