The chicken was first built in 1992 and the egg came shortly after in 1995.

The AM HMMWV's production began in 1984 and initial design began in 1979.
Pretty safe to say Toyota was still thinking how to refine their 70 series at the time, nevermind building a Mega Cruiser.

Early models were A442F and later models were A443F. Same as a Coaster or Dyna from the same vintage.

Thanks Steve. I wondered the bellhousing for A442F is modified to fit to 15B. A442F were generally installed to 80 series LC.

Hi All,

I'm a 100 Series owner, iH8Mud disciple, and freelance automotive journalist, and I write a lot about my exploits with my Land Cruiser on Autotrader.com/Oversteer. Im looking to do an article and video on a local Mega Cruiser. Could anyone provide concrete sales numbers for both the BXD10 and BXD20, along with a source? I'd love to answer the question 'XXXX BXD10s were built and XXXX BXD20s were built" 'Word of mouth' knowledge is acceptable if that's all that is out there; I'd just love to have something from a reliable source that I can verify.

There's so little info currently out there on the Mega Cruiser, so I want to make sure my piece is as comprehensive and accurate as possible.

Thanks!

-Chris

Hi Chris, here’s a link to research I did about Mega Cruiser numbers:

Latest Addition

Source is the Toyota EPC. As for BXD10’s, I’ve heard the numbers 500 and 3000 from different sources, hearsay, I can put you in touch with other Mega owners if you contact me by email or phone. From the number of BXD10’s I’ve seen, I’m guessing the number produced is closer to 3000 than 500. The number of BXD20’s is documented in the link.

I can get you in touch with the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum in SLC, they have two Mega Cruisers. 10 and 20.

Hi Steve,

Wow! Thank you so much for the info - that's exactly what I needed. I'm a huge fan of the Land Cruiser Museum - I just noticed yesterday that they got a BXD20, and I'll admit I got pretty excited. Funny that you were the one to actually source it and put the puzzle together. I figured it would be a few years before they brought one over - that's gotta be the only one in the US, no?

Seeing their new BXD20 is actually what inspired my post above. I'll probably reach out to them about checking it out soon, and I may be sending you an email or giving you a ring soon as well. In the meantime though, thanks again for the great information.

I'm pretty sure it's the only one in North America. A very rare vehicle for sure.

Sounds great, good luck.

Greetings from the Pearl of the Orient, Mate.

I just bought a BXD10 in good running condition. Almost everything is running except for the Speedometer and temperature gauge. I recon it's because of the rats that could have somehow ate the wires while it was stuck inside a rice mill for a year. At any rate, may I ask how did you fix your electrical with your BXD's? Appreciate any info and thanks in advance.

Cheers.

i have 1 toyota land cruiser bxd10, i need to buy it's bonnet hood. Do you know where i can buy it pls?
