Well i spoke to the sales guy and he said the carfax was clean and showed two owners, it showed the maint at 91k on the printout... Also he said when cold it had an exhaust tick but after warming up it goes away. The interior is spotless. He said there bottom over the phone was 16,250. There is a pict he sent me of the interior that shows the center dash and it has a lcd?? He said it didnt have navigation. What would that display be for? Its factory looking

So exhaust would be like 225 plus labor, unless i do it.

Its not an exhaust tick, the headers are cracked. Think more like $1200.

yes i guess it's maybe one or both could be cracking, i searched the board and found cdan can get them for $210 ea. I could do the labor if needed. It's funny to think i'd spend all this money and have to do this. At least i know they would be good if i did them, i mean others may or may not crack but's it is highly likely they will at some point

I would make a comment that for a suv of all suv's or the land cruiser name would be mired in cracked exhaust manifolds, ac issues etc.

Also the cost to adjust the valves is $2500 lol, i know it's rarely needed but geez, i'd be pissed if i paid 50k new and had to do this at 100k range. Least after 100k the bugs are all typically known. The new buyers get bent over, that's why i do not buy new anymore.

i would quickly pay that asking price if the truck is clean inside out and has in fact had the TB done along with all other maintenance. then i would get a set of DT headers and be done for a long time. the catch is, does the maint printout explicitly say TB? or the there a TB sticker? without one of those facts and a ton of detailed photos, i would not travel 4 hours. remember, even with photos, in person you will see new things, so dont be completely disappointed when you do.

regarding valve job, i dont think anyone has ever done one on this forum... no apparent need from my reading.

It's not the parts cost. Heck, I'll sell my leak-free takeoffs for $100 if you want them. It's the labor. It's a project to get them R&R'd. But, if you're a modder don't let the cracked manies hold you back: for $550 you can get a nice set of DT headers and pick up a decent amount of HP. Search the 100 forum for the dyno charts.

if the headers are calif approved that could be an option. I can do the wrenching, i've read about the issues :)

You'd have to call DT, but IIRC they're CARB approved (as well as beautiful and functional.).

Just found this on Craigslist – 1999 Land Cruiser with 70k miles. I’m not sure this is the one for me – I don’t know if low miles make it worth the asking price of $17,999 especially since these trucks run forever. Seller did not post much information – my concern is this truck has mostly sat around if he put 500 miles on it some years, and it should get the TB and WP done based on age.

I thought the 98-99 had a weak front suspension and it was beefed up in 2000, whats the story, that is why set my sights on a 00 min year.

The dealer did email me back last night dropping the price below 16k, trouble is im sick and dont feel like traveling. Things have to wait. So either i can get the white 00 for 13k with 125k miles and do some minor work for about 1k or spent 16k for 01 w 100k miles and fix the exhaust. Hmm, id need to see the 01 to assess its body.

No suspension change in 2000. But the front diff changed from 2 pinion to 4. Also gained ATRAC/VSC but lost rear locker.

Its in calif, make sure its smoggable. Should be but im sure you are aware in calif its the sellers responsibility to get the smog and not the buyer.
That said i thought stock motor had great get up and go how would a turbo work off road?

Not worth it IMO. It's still 13 years old, if you plan on driving it the $8k difference would go away quickly...

See my sig for DT header Dyno Results

Its a 13 hour Job to R&R a set of stock manifolds or DT Headers.

Yes i read the thread, just saying i was pleased with stock hp. If i had to change out a ex manifold i issue would be to get my hands on a set as it seems its a group buy, i feel enough people had got the dt's that i could find a stock one cheap. I have the space and tools to do this, time is not an issue as it would not be a daily driver. Im dissapointed in T as they know this is an issue and have not come forward, reminds me of the v6 head issue on the early 4 runners, they finally did the right thing and covered them, even out of warranty.

Seriously, you're talking about headers developing a ticking nose (as in not failing in any way shape or form for their intended purpose) 70,000 miles after the expiration of the factory warranty for the truck....

. Still looking for a clean 100 w/o having my pants brought down on the price.

Ya if u put it that way lol. Seems in 2006 they changed the design for some odd reason, tubular design, thinking they knew they had a problem, im thinking this is more widespread as alot of people cant even hear this and typically only when cold.
