So its easy to add a third row seat? Everything is in place, just find a matching seat?
Thanks for the feedback

That is exactly right. I had a 99 100 Series with no third row, so I bought a 3rd row (tan) from another Mud member and slapped them in.

If they have previously been there it's not a big deal. Used set of rears $500.

You need seats, seatbelts, seatbelt anchor hardware, seat brackets, seat bracket bolts and different rear carpet to name a few items if the truck has never had them. If you want a third row buy a truck that as one or has had one and the hardware is in place.

I've got nice tan third row seats from my '99 that have been stored indoors most of the truck's life. Might not be great for CA guys given I'm just by DC in Northern Virginia. They are available if anyone wants them.

Well im headin down tomorrow to check it out. He told me that they are downsizing as thy are getting close to retirement and sold their vehicles with v8's , a caddy and a boat so they dont use it now as they used it to tow the boat. Its been garaged and he said ifs very clean but does have a few small scratches, nothing that would stand out. The typical "i hate to sell it" lol.
Ill see where it goes but to take it home it needs to be real clean and lower in price, ill see. Trouble for him i see is people can not get a loan on something like this , being over 10 years old and over 100k miles, so it has to be a cash deal. Things are still tough in calif.

Im also gonna check out a 87 Hj60... If its not as rusty as i think i might be interested in it.

The credit union had no problem financing 11k on 12yo 140k mile cruiser for me. Don't be too cocky. :D

T Wish the best on deal. I approached my local CU about a 2001. They counter with a car loan rule of "10". Number of years old + length of loan cannot exceed 10 (?). I am holding cash (saving) for the right deal on a 2000-2002 FJ 100. Patience :-)
Enjoy your LC. cheaha bill

BTW: owned an 81 FJ60 since 85, recently transferred to my sister 2011 with 185k. Classic :)

Not being cocky, the person did say some have looked but cant finance it, *of course one might get a loan but i would not expect a bank to use the vehicle as collateral , so interest rates would be high, like greater than 10%, so yes if you want to borrow 15k at 10% and you have good credit you can do that but for a car loan that is obscene as its more like a credit card and i would venture to say not smart. * *I can get 3% against my own money in the bank and thats the best i can do. *Newer then its 2.99%

I did see the rig and it was very clean but had a minor issue with rear bumper passenger side it was up about 1/4 inch i could see the bracket had by bent up, the metal right above this on the rear fender had a coin size ding, a few chips in the windshield *the interior was spotless, they had a cover on the driver seat bottom as the leather is worn some but not ripped or torn, said they put that cover on to protect the leather, i guess this is common. *The 120k was not done yet... What does this cost?

(just reading faq should answer this) Question , we drove it but i could not tell if the atrac was functional, i see the dummy lights cme on and off as expected when the key is turned on but nothing to say the rig is in atrac?

I guess its in all wheel drive at all times?

Also the low neutral high stick for the transfer case? Whats the rules for changing this from high to low? Also the pwr and 2nd buttons... How are they used... Lol

Does this system just work without changing it in 4x4?

Thanks for the input.

If a land cruiser isn't scuffed at every corner I'm suspicious. :D

I thought you looked at a 1999 which doesn't have atrac, that came in 2000. Most 99 have a rear locker. 100 series are full time 4x4 Check out Slee's website for a list if differences in model years.

And my loan through pacific first cu is 4.49% for 48. Great you have the cash that makes life easier at the bargaining table. I opted to use other people's money as I could use the 15k to make more than cost of the loan. I guess my point when I brought it up was to inform others that money is out here.

well he wouldn't go down to 12.5 , stuck at 13k , told him good luck and happy new year. yep cant believe i'd blow it for 500 bucks
but there was enough small things to tip the scales for me.

Good for you Rob, stick to your gut feeling, sometimes there is a vehicle and situation that calls for giving the asking price, but it sounds like this was not the One. When you find the right truck it's not about $500. You will drive the right truck 100s of thousands of miles after the sale. Good luck,

Take a vacation to Hawaii and ship this 2000 home for less than 12k. :D 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser

This is the second or third 100 I've seen over the past year for less than 10K in Hawaii. The last one also had under 100K miles. Contrary to what someone else suggested, rust is not usually an issue with Hawaii trucks, unless they've been used as beach rigs. State of Hawaii has jacked up vehicle registration fees by 60% this year, making the registration on one of these over $200 a year. Plus, the cost of gas there is the highest in the nation...

bkgee, funny my wife said just get it, lol, told me she would kickin the 500 diff. I guess im too picky on either certain things along with the sellers attitude. I liked the idea they owned it for 7 yrs and did maint, that actually that is evrything to me as sellers owning it for a yr or so and no maint records is a no go for me unless its some small amount of cash etc, its the atitude "if i dont get my price ill just keep it" that rubs me wrong. Although that is true, i guess its the way it came across. It was a succesion of events, like he said he started at 14,500 and had no offers and dropped it to 13,900... This was over a month, then he said i guess i shounldnt have told you i dropped the price.. I asked him how he priced it, basically he looked at values statewide, ok i guess, i was thinking low and high book and in the midish, but it had maybe 500 worth on the rear bumper and above metal, very small amount but i had to point this out. Hes like i never noticed this, ahh you dont have to fix that stuff, i didnt, lol. Then i noticed a chip hole in the headlight, he said i was wondering if i would find that,, said he had a new light in the garage that could go with it. At any rate it was like a " you find it kinda game ". I also noticed the pass qtr had been worked on, by the under seam, which is not a big deal as it looked right it was just the button up work by the body shop that was slightly diff than the factory that tipped me and the "well the carfax is clean so no accident here" i said carfax is a good thing, but does not catch all.... And this qtr was worked on, period. I used to do body and paint so its a curse i guess as most shops do pretty good work and for most folks they dont see it, i know it gets expensive for a shop to match peel and everything. But i can live with it. :)

Im expanding my search a bit more, it will have to the right seller to make it happen. The one owner in oregon from the above post looks very Sweet, but i cant do black, my area is like arizona lol, 100 plus summer days and black is tough for temp and cleaning. I could call this guy up in a week and see how he feels but im not sure.

What would shipping roughly be to the states? I know earlier in the 70's a friend had moved there for a few years two wheel drive rusted out bad, im thinking the undercoating is better now, or the old datsun had none :/. Is the salt air tough on the finish?

I will contact, if the miles are low you never know.

Thanks

RobB, as with anything, i firmly believe there is always another "even better one" out there, if you are or can be patient ;) i've walked away from all sorts of deals only to be much happier months or a year later.
