I have a 97 40th anniversary 80 with 150k, locked ARB front, OME, sliders, it is in good shape, looking to trade for a FJ40, depending on the 40 could add cash to the deal. I may also just sell the 80 and buy a 40. I wanted to see if anyone had a line on a good condition 40 out there. Thank you very much!

Kinda hard to explain how the crossmembers will be since, as most already know, I rarely do things in a traditional style. The current crossmembers vary between 30" & 48" OC and are maybe 2x6, 1/8" angle - basically just there to hold the frame rails together I think; not much load-bearing capacity. The plan is to build an 'X' out of tube between the frame rails on the front half and the back half of the deck (either side of the tandems on a 26' deck). The tubes will integrate with the current flimsy crossmembers so each can act as gusseting for the other. The tubes will be mounted at the highest point inside the frame rails to double as deck supports. Then I plan to join/support each end with a tube that dips down towards the axles' centerline from the center of each 'X' and join together there at a low point, also integrated with a crossmember (this one being an added-on 8" I-beam). That should keep the vertical flex at each end under control. Keep in mind too that the main frame rails are the perfect width to equal my trucks' track width, so direct pressure on the main deck plates anywhere without good support will rarely be very high. anyway, but I think 1/4" aluminum DP will likely distribute weight extremely well in this case. Gotta be better than 2x12's at least. What spacing are you putting your cross members. I'd deffinatly rather have that as a floor than 2x12. I wouldn't use it for a heavy duty trailer though with any more than 16" OC cross members.
