Chris-

I would go with a rear first, that one on the grey 60 a few posts up would work great for you with the little wrap around quarter protectors...

"...SCRAAAAAPE"

"What the heck was that?" my passenger asked.

"Just Chris and Barb coming down off another ledge." I reply.

"Is that okay?" he questioned.

"Yeah, it just helps us keep track of the Emily!" :D

Chris, building one might be your best option, just make sure it will stay on if it is used as a tow point! LOL

Here's a shot of the bumper with no pivots.

Looks good - and familiar: A shot of the Slee bumper with swingout.
Is that MAF rear 1/4" plate too, Steve-O?

Thanks for the response, it's not looking quite go grim anymore. Steve-O, that looks very good but izuvice seems to have a pretty good offer too.

Heard from my favorite fabman 2badfj's as well, I'll be talking to him and get closer to making some kind of decision.

Hey Drew, I agree. Gotta make sure it has some recovery points. Maybe next time we're on Fins & Things I won't disappoint you and give you a chance to use that new winch. :D

Hey they look a lot alike, I didnt realize that until right now actually. Maybe we both have a great design going! Yes our bumper is 1/4" as well, with exception to the mounting brackets and d-ring mounts which are 1/2" plate. The d-ring mounts are the same piece as the mounting brackets, running through the bumper.

working for beer

not quite working for beer!!!! just like to fab and work with metal, besides i can guarantee the bumpers on my 62 are just as stout if not more so than man a fre, not to mention that they cost about a tenth of what those ones do!!

Yeah, but you didn't even need any recovery points, you did GREAT!

FWIW, my winch only looks new, it is actually like 30 years old, just restored it a year or two back.

:D

And had a blast, is it time to go back yet? :D

Got a chance to pull someone else off a trail last Sat on my way to view St. Mary's glacier from Yankee Hill. Some guy tried to take a short cut to Central City in his car  Towed him about 2 miles to safety, local sheriff thanked me and the driver told everyone I had "balls of steel." I said "No, I have a Land Cruiser." :D

Check with Proffitt's

Hey Chris!

Looks like you guys had fun in Moab! Next year for me!

any-hoo...call Jeremiah at Proffitt's. I was talking with him about building a bumper a while back - Didn't go with him just because of timing of new Baby, etc...

He quoted me a price better than most out there, and he's in CO (Delta)

HTH

Hey Stranger! Nice to know you're still around - getting any sleep yet? How's the baby? (Yes, this is chat:D )

We had a great time and will be there next year. I didn't break your springs ;)

Dragged my tail over a lot of rocks since I didn't get much lift from the springs...

Just kidding, I'm real happy with them

Thanks for the bumper info - obviously there are a lot more options than I had found.

Looking at the picture, it appears that installation of this bumper requires the removal of the factory frame crossmember. Is that correct?
