Thanks for keeping the comments coming it really helps.
Nice, clean look.

Have you tested them on some rocks? How well do they hold up?
Thanks, I have had them on my truck for over 2 years and have wheeled them from South Dakota to Arizona. I don't thrash the truck but I am not at all hesitant to hit the sliders.

Looks good. I don't know about those clamp bolts. I have shattered my u-botls before. I guess it all depends on the use.
I have not heard of anyone breaking u-bolts like that. How big are they? I use 9/16 grade 8 botls for these.

Those are exactly what I'm looking for! Awesome !

Are these available currently, and what's the cost?

I can build them anytime. I do not keep inventory. This helps me keep my overhead low and cost down. The ones that you see are $680 and that is powder coated.

I wonder if there's any deflection under point loading with the shorter vertical profile material?

(1" by ? box vs. 2x2 or tube)

Some good ole forklift pose photo's would be nice to see.
I am not sure what you are asking. Do you mean a 1x3 in a vertical position would not flex as much?

I visited your site. I have to say that I am quite fond of your work.

How much do your bumpers and sliders weigh?
Thank you. I did not weight the bumpers but I would guess the front one without the winch is ~80lb and the rear is ~110lb. The sliders depending on how heavy of 2x6 you choose are ~75lb each side. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks

looks really great.

Not sure why someone would think the cat protection hangs too low. Like you said, when the engine torques you need a little "wiggle" room. Plus, that spot is NOT the lowest part on the truck anyways.

I also don't see someone wanting to add kickout's to a slider that looks like a stock step?? Makes no sense to me, plus they already seem to be a pretty wide slider.

I like them a lot.

After looking at the pics I was about to say the same thing. How could that cat protection be any closer?

Very nice... I like the OEM look and the fact you actually get a step vs. trying to stand on something smaller, slipping, and giving yourself a mean shinner!!

Are these in full production now? Or are these only prototype?
I'm waiting for tax return time....

Scott

Do you have plans to make sliders for the 91-92 FJ80?
I have not made any for the 91-92 80's yet. I just need to find out what the differences are. I assume the frame is the same but the exhaust would be different. I am sure people here can set me strait on the differences. All I need is a test subject.

Scott, I have built several sets for customers and just build things on a first come first serve basis. I do not keep and inventory. The ones you see are on my truck and were the prototypes. Thanks for your interest.

I'm a fan!!

Again, the factory look works of me too. Did you have to cut the rubber attached to the rear door or does it live at the same height as the factory runners. I can feel mine flex when i stand on them and it bothers me, i am definatly interested and will watch this thread daily. Very nice work and keep it up:beer:

price

can you estimate a price withthe higher tube that makes them look the stock height/thickness.

I've wheeled with Mike several times, and he's a great guy to work with. I have seen him smash those sliders pretty hard, and they took the abuse well and asked for more. He built some sliders for my dad's FJ Cruiser that came out absolutely awesome... his welds are very purdy, and as I add armor to my truck, Mike is going to be doing ALL of it. His prices are great, he's an outstanding fabricator, and just a pleasure to work with. If you have Mike build you any armor, be it sliders, skid plates, bumpers, etc, you will NOT be disappointed.

Hey Mike, are you ready to tube out my 40 yet ?

They are at the perfect height to line up with the front. Thanks for the compliments.

I can price out thicker tube but I think it would be more cost effective to build it differently. Mabye with a false face on it or build up the top with something. I will see what they have tomorrow and let you know.

Justin, Thanks for jumping in with those kind words. I cannot wait to start on your cage and mabye tube fenders!!!!!

i like the clean sleeper look..nice job. hard to tell about the cat protection clearance, but a cut n turn of the cats can give a good inch or 2 more clearance. as mentioned earlier though, they're not the lowest part of the truck...and it looks like youve got good skid protection there...

this pic made me think it hung too low...

I like the stock look and consider myself a lightweight wheeler who has been able to avoid stock step damage or worse. The day my luck will run out is coming. How difficult are these to install? I'm a one :banana:guy.

Where are you located? Trying to figure shipping cost ;)

They are bolt on. If you can use a jack, jack stand and a few wreches you can put these on. The hardest thing is manuvering them because they are heavy. If you are a light wheeler I would also suggest going with the lighter 2x6 tube which would save on the cost of the slider and of shipping. Not to mention easier to install.

Mike, i had been thinking about how to make some stock looking sliders, and thankfully, you beat me to it. Is ther some sort of Anti slip on the topside? Do you think it would be feasible to put the stock plastic from the top of the oem running boards on top of these? Any way, you will be getting my order soon!

If I were ordering a set of new sliders, I would go with 3" exhaust with a single high flow cat as many on the forums have done here., and do without a low hanging cat guard altogether I have smashed the cat guard on my sliders so many times that my cats constantly rattle against it, and it's incredibly annoying. In fact, that's my next project / mod is the 3" exhaust with the single high flow cat. I think the new exhaust will help a bit with performance after the install the supercharger, and will give me more clearance as well...

Someone mentioned above something about the cats not being the lowest hanging portion of the underside of an 80 series, and I would agree with that, unless you have upgraded from your factory x-member and skid plate already like I have :) This probably warrants starting another thread...

The powder coating is textured which give ok grip. I had a set bedlined and they were very slick. I believe thay have a powder coating that has more texture that could be used to prevent sliping. As far as putting the factor plastic on I think it has slots cut into it that the platic clips into. This could be done but it would let water into the 2x6 and may be a rust issue from the inside out. You could put drain holes in it to let the water out. We should look into it if that is the look you want.
Thanks
Mike

I have some donor running boards in good condition if you need some to cut up or do whatever with. I'm guessing shipping would be around $100 though.

MUD ship is possible and I may be making my way to Oklahoma City in April of this year.
