Been busy but Patches is on strike...
Built a quick cart for the bender since I dont need it bolted to the ground anymore.
Got the Swag Offroad HF air/ hydro set up
Got another rack built. Going to the powder coat'r Monday. Kinda looking forward to see how it looks coated.
Again I would like to say thanks for the orders guys, I know that you'll get years and years of service out of these. I built these things like tanks but kept them lean enough to keep the weight down. You will have no problem carrying heavy load outs up top with this rack. I guarantee it.
I got some other cool stuff I'm working on. Gonna be breaking ground on my new building soon
and setting up the shop but I'm gonna keep building racks. PM me for a quote or if you just wanna spit ball an idea.

2 coats of zinc primer
2 coats of bedliner
I also offer powder coating and my guy is the best around these parts no bs

Full rack raw steel is $385.00
Full rack primed and bed coated in $485.00
Full rack media blasted and powder coated crinkle matte black $585.00
Shipping has been running around $125-$155.00 depending on your location. I'm not making anything on packing or transport to the depot for shipping.
This is a base price for those on the fence or were curious. Of course I can tailor the build to your specific needs with minimal price adjustments.

Working on a 3/4 full basket type rack. I will post pics of that build as soon as I have it to a point where I can.

UMMMMMMM, I just gotta say that those prices are awesome! Nice looking rack. I wish you were making these when I bought a rack and spent 2x as much! Plus it sounds like you can custom to whatever you want. Best of luck with the business, I am sure you will do very well! If people are on the fence I would say grab one while you can at these prices.........

One of those racks at the plater is for me! I'm really looking forward to having this custom made rack by Jason atop my 80 for the upcoming quail hunting season in Mexico. I'll certainly add a few photos and give a report once it arrives and I get it mounted. Jason has been helpful and patient in helping me configure the rack for my needs and his pricing is very fair. If you are considering a rack for your vehicle give him a call and let him build you what you know you want.

That's a nice looking rack. I need to get my solar panel idea figured out so I can get a rack in the build queue for myself.

The midsize rack is a heck of a lot lighter than the full size but cargo capacity is limited. Whats nice about the mid size is it can ship regular UPS too. Which will save a little cabbage.
Also please note that the full size rack still allows full operation of the sunroof.

I wanna gauge some interest on an idea I have fella's. A modular roof rack in that you can add or remove a section to shorten or elongate.
What I'm thinking is using these

A brother MUD'r @1973Guppie suggested these as a way to cut shipping costs.
If the center section had a set of these on either side of it you could take that section out if you only want a half rack. And when you need the extra cargo room you add it back in by simple undoing the rear section and clamping it all back together.
Need some input gentlemen.

I looked at building one that completely broke down, sleeved joints, etc.. Never did it, but you may be on to something... Also, figure out how to ensure when they are taken apart and put together the enduser/shipping doesn't overtighten or crimp something causing issues later on.

Love the front bumper BTW, Booger did you good there. I'm in the middle of a TJM/TT hybrid design now. Hopefully another couple of weeks and it'll be out for sell.

I've been watching the bumper thread and saw your request for input.
I really like the idea of having removable sections on a roof rack. It allows for running it "short" most of the time or adding a section to extend it for long expedition trips. But a modular design like that comes with a steep price and added complexity. Anchor points need to be added for the removable section or strength could be compromised. If I had the option of adding or removing a section of the rack, I don't know how often I would actually use it. Personally, I would prefer a simple rack design that covers from the tail gate to the back edge of the sunroof with 3 gutter mounts per side. Focusing your efforts on designing a cheaper simple rack that will appeal to a large majority of folks would be better than a large modular rack for a niche audience.
I've designed the mounts for my LED mountain bike lights to be full compatible with 1/4 x 20 thread for mounting on a tripod, helmet, handlebar, and suction cup. The lights will mount on anything with that thread pitch. Although it was worth it in the end, it made building mounting solutions much more complicated and if I built them for other folks, I probably wouldn't do it.

I like those couplers. But do they make them in smaller sizes for a rack? Everything I've seen is like 1.75+

I'm gonna build one and see how it goes together. It will make the racks a little more costly but for the added versatility it could be an option for some. Gonna redesign the standard rack first and create a full basket version also. I ordered a few sets of the couplers to prototype one and see what the response is.

I really wanna get started on it but I need to focus and finish up trimming/welding the other rear fender otherwise it will never get done!
