I've always just used the framework of my racks for hooking straps. The options are very good on my current rack, even though the builder did shoddy work. Speaking of charging too much for a "garage built rack"; you get what you pay for and I have regrets...

Having something purposly integrated sounds nice, but I'm not sure it's necessary.

Let's see what you're thinking exactly.

Wishing you the best in following the dream.

Thanks man.
Well said.

What do you guys think of 3/8" round bar bent in a U shape as strap hooks? Ill post pics tomorrow. Just thinking of how I can add some good tie down points because the hooks on most straps won't loop around the 3/4" pipe. Let me know what you guys think for cargo strap options. Thanks

IMO, the round bent bars are really not necessary. Any ratchet strap will fit around the standard bar anyhow? I never understood why people place these on custom racks? to me it would seem to limit versatility. I suppose if you have a section you know will always be used to carry a specific item them ok, but for me I would rather leave it flat and just hook to the round bar.

Ya I think that's the way I'm gonna go with it unless someone specifically asks for them. PICS coming soon... almost wrapped up.

Can I quit my job, park my rv in your shop and sweep the floor for beer money:D

So no strap hooks? I'm pondering this very same thing on my own oddly shaped rack.

Sure man, but I'd rather come to your house being that you live so close to Yosemite National. That's one of my favorites. I lived down in Palmdale for awhile back in the day. LA sux though. NorCal is where its at.

Ordered one today - looking forward to getting it on my rig!

@homesickalien , I finished fabricating yours today. Will post up some pics for your viewing pleasures in a few minutes. Paint will be tomorrow and I'll be shipping it to you as soon as the paint drys. Hang in there a couple more days.

It's just a short 'bike' ride away...

Just a thought but why not use Coretrax? Its really cheap, you can add a tie down anywhere you want and any type of tie down.

It actually sucks, tourist traffic is horrendous(seriously fuct on holidays , etc) and mostly 25-35 mph. I go during the weekdays if possible.

100%. Been to Yosemite about 50 times in my life and I keep valley floor trips to just the day. I now prefer Tioga Pass since its not as traveled and its absolutely incredible scenery.

Heck yeah! I think this is just east of the 395 side Yosemite entrance (tioga).

Dunno if I've been to rubicon or Yosemite more. Probably 4 dozen each or so
