in your first pic, that's a 'shear' mounting....while it's a short span and all, it's still a weak point...should be done in 'nodes', where that angle brace meets at either the other two points on the B-hoop, not in between.

like the design tho, very similar to how mine is done...and it's survived a LOT of rolls :)

WOW ! I love the work your are doing for me Patrick. Thanks for your help. It looks WONDERFUL. I am very happy with the its coming together.

out of the 50+ cages that I have fabricated over the years I have never had a failure because of this kind of joint. countless rolovers and several high speed (65+ mph), with the same joint in each. I have roled my cruiser over at least 10 times and once over backwards with less than 1/8" of deflection. thanks for the feed back but I do not see this as a "sheer" point as much as a compression area, a sheer point in my book is two bars that are directly opposing each other top to bottom.

Pat - bout time you started posting up some of your :smokin: fabwork. Are the stock curved rear downbars staying & did you keep the main stock rear bar or bend up a new one? Is that 1 3/4" DOM? An area for an overhead console woulda been  Looks beefy & well constructed!

the main hoop and rear down bars were replaced, just put the stodk clamps back on for looks. 2" dom. the owner didn't want anything overhead. thanks for the comments.

;) stop changing the photos! lol

looks sharp, and the rig looks VERY clean too...like how it has a stock 'look' in the back but the added strength of the DOM - well done :)

thanks guys, the back half on my 40 should start soon.

I think it looks weird with the grab bars going to that inner tube.

But if the passenger is holding on to it when it goes over it their hand wont get crushed.. Yea it looks a little goofy, but the function of it is good!

looks good!

Since I am the onwer of the 40th, I will never have to worry about it rolling. Because it will not be off roaded. I had Patrick build it so that I would feel safe on the street's. I think he has done a wonderful job. And I can not wait to pick it up and start painting. Thanks for all your hard work.

it is tied into the frame in all 6 locations and we do plan some seat upgrades in the near future.

I've rolled my truck many many many times....I've had ONE that was un-expected, and it was by FAR the worst....wise choice to get a quality cage installed, they are 'worthless' until you really need them, and then you'll appreciate it :)

and those grab bars look about right....they will 'barely' be in the sight line, but like most things, the driver will quickly get used to them and ignore them.

I'm glad you like it, I will do my best to try to get him to use this truvk off-road :)
