How about a wrap job.
You can just put on any finish coat and then have it wraped in any collor or theme you want and it also gives you better protection for scratches.

It's not a bad idea, and I'd considered it for my '65 Impala. In Pakistan though, it's still prohibitively expensive, Michael. I could probably get this rig painted and repainted four times, in the cost of a wrap-job. Besides...a wrap job probably goes entirely against the nature of the beast: hard, uncompromising, and easy to repair (if and when I inevitably f**k it up!)

pardon my ignorance, is it possible you got the wrong pic for kaghan? this looks exactly like lake moraine in alberta, canada (seen it myself in person)... i mean, right down to counting the 4 peaks followed by a flat peak on the right...even the distant tree line is a bang on match? couldn't resist commenting, lol. no offence!

anyway, just saw this awesome thread! WOW! dunno why they didn't make a factory 4 door 40! and an HZ to boot! i must say, i definitely liked derelict rusty look previous to the paint job. but she looks great all around. guess we're gonna see some action vids and shots soon?!

Since Darwin was bombed in WWII the Australian Army has defended this north end weak link [shhhh] with a bunch of guys in their own personal troopy loaded with machine guns. I'm sure there's a bit more to it than that - though a bunch of Aussie diggers defending their own HJ47 with a .50cal would probably do more damage than an entire regiment defending something far less valuable like the coastline

I digress again..

Here are some pics of camouflaged Aussie Norforce troopies. If I still have a say I vote for the low-key, subtle camo, sprayed by the whole fam after a quick meeting to nail down the pattern/colours. Rattle can heaven.

Plus I came across this BJ74/FJ73 for sale in Lahore. I'm not a fan of the camo for your truck but it looks like a legit Pak Army truck. Whoever buys that 13B-T sure is gonna have some fun!

This is an actual Pak Army tank in colours. Though I'm sure given the varying terrain in Pakistan there's probably a few patterns available for different regions/regiments - for vehicles I mean.

On a side note Fouad, the closest I came to Pakistan was a tiny little town called Joshimath, Uttarakhand. It's only a 12 hour drive from Lahore. The French doctor I was traveling with made it up to Srinagar, a place I had on my list but never made. The whole region is just a magic part of the world and has always stuck with me - it's something you can't explain until you've been there.

I have this crazy half-baked idea in mind to do Mumbai - London in my custom 45, via Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and through eastern Europe. Which means I'm coming to dinner in 2017.

Making the phantom look like a military vehicle would be pretty dangerous considering some of the places you intend taking it. Or am I wrong there Fouad?

That's why I'd go for a nice friendly OEM colour like "mustard".

Actually that's a "stretched" fibre hard top; crafted from two stock hard tops...and joined somewhere just aft of the centre line.

Honestly speaking, the fam-camo-paint-job may actually turn out to be no more than an exercise in fun. But it's one I'd like to experience with the wife and children, nonetheless. If it turns out to look good in addition to being fun...that'd be the icing on the cake.

Cult, you'll be an honoured guest, mate. We'll ply you with good food and treat you like royalty. Plus...we'll make sure that 45 of yours is absolutely revitalised to the very last nut and bolt while you're here. Make up a wish list! And why wait 5 years...we know you wanna, earlier than that!

On a more sober note, the route you mentioned is absolutely magical. And I mean other-worldly. It'll place enormous demands on your rig, and will also treat you to some of the most amazing sights and sounds imaginable. I was a nipper when my old man traveled this route (from London to Islamabad...but he was driving a Toyota Corona Mark II Station Wagon, at the time) with the family. The very TEXTURE of that memory STILL lives on with me, to this very day. Best of luck for it materialising for you...and hopefully, sooner than 2017!

Whilst some regions to the North West (adjacent to Afghanistan) are pretty dangerous, Tom, they're also strictly off-limits to casual tourism. Most of the other areas I've mentioned, are absolutely peaceful (and idyllic). On the other hand, some, have also literally been wrested back from the Taliban, and we're doing our goddamnedest to make sure they stay the **** out. This country belongs to 180 million people like ME...average joes who celebrate life, and the freedom to exist with values of our own...and NOT to a crazed-brained assortment of a few thousand f--ktards (pardon my French) who use violence and intimidation and a convoluted interpretation of religion, to further an agenda that is strictly political.

Now...about that OEM mustard colour...

That IS on the short list, mate.
