I'm starting to think this 40 was stored in a zero-humidity clean room somewhere!
Haha yes I got lucky!!That is a pretty good looking tub! Apparently you also have the only PO ever who didn’t own a drill and liked to use it creating mounting locations for doodads.
Well because the engine is out, and I can see some surface rust starting on the frame I want to get it off before it becomes any worse. And, while I’ve got so much off I want to make sure everything is in good order. How far down the rabbit hole are you wanting to go? Your interior looks really clean. I wouldn't bother pulling it all apart. Get it cleaned up and driving and just enjoy it.

I agree. There are countless 40s that are torn apart with good intentions, never to be reassembled (or sold decades later to be built by someone else). It’s 5x more costly than you’d imagine and takes serious time management skills.I'd look at @wngrog 's patina thread and grab some of his tricks to go clean up the frame and interior. A full frame-off is really time intensive and will cost a lot once you end up doing it. If you are wanting to do that, go ahead, but figure out how far you want to go before it ends up being too late.
