What does that mean?? I have it mounted horizontal, does that matter??I`m thinking air ,water or fuel filter just not full??I have been having trouble with idling, stalling.SBC 305,Thanks

If it is just one bubble that stays in the filter, no harm, no foul. With engine running, you can loosen it from the mounting and rotate it so the bubble is sucked up the feed line to the carb. If it is a constant string of small bubbles, then you probably have an air leak/bad connection in the fuel line. If you have fuel injection, this is a big problem. Need more info about fuel system/carb/fuel injection to help diagnose problems. Pix would help a lot. John

It is air and is normal. Fuel supply issues usually show up at higher RPM. You could try a "30 second overhaul" The idea is to create very high vacuum to dislodge whatever is gooked up in your carb. I have fixed many issues this way over the years. With the air cleaner off, grab the throttle linkage rev the engine up to fairly high RPM. Release the throttle, and at the same time slam the choke shut. Do this a couple of times and see if it idles better.

Here are some pics, tried 30 sec trick 3 times ,no luck.I removed fr.bowl and adj. float per Holley tech line and it will idle better, but still not right .And it stalls at every stop unless i feather gas pedal?? It is a Holley 600 carb, hei dizzy(gm). It also leaks at the top of front bowl where the needle valve adjuster is usually located, but not on this model.Thank you guys for looking and for your help.

That is normal with the filter. Nice carb..

If you have fuel leaking, then I would guess a bad gasket. I have never seen a carb that does not have any idle mix system on it. What model or application is that Holly for?

It`s a Holley 600,P/N 80457s,can be seen on their website. This is all PO problems I am trying to fix.I have the front bowl off now to put Quiksteel on the leak.Carb was purchased new 4/12,but only 90 day warranty. Thanks for your response.

It also leaks at the top of front bowl where the needle valve adjuster is usually located, but not on this model.

On the web page it looks like there is an adjuster screw down low on tlhe drivers side of the front float bowl. It is on the opposite corner as the fuel inlet. Yours doesn't have this? John

You are correct, but there is no adj. on top for the needle valve, float height. And this is where it leaks. It just has a plug /cap there now. Thanks again.

vacuum leak?

your carburetor is an "improved" 4160 which just means different non-adjustable float. The idle mixture screws are on both sides of the metering block. The problem i have run into is the adapter plate tends to leak if you use the wrong gaskets, and if the plate doesn't direct the flow into each of the spreadbore holes individually i have had trouble getting a real good idle mixture setting. sucks that your new carb leaks at the site of "improvement":o

Thanks,I did get some extra gaskets with it maybe the PO used wrong one???I will check that.
