Going through the brakes on my 40 trying to get it back on the road. I broke the metal brake line that comes from the brake hose to the brake caliber. I ordered one from SOR and it has different fittings then my original brake line and will not thread in. Is there anything wrong with doing away with the brake line and hooking the hose directly to the caliber like I have it in the picture? Could I possibly file off the end of the different brake fitting and make it work?

I think it's pretty common to run the soft line directly to the caliper, I do it but with a longer hose.

So did they send you the wrong part or did you order the wrong part? If they sent the wrong part I'd contact the vendor and have it corrected.

Check steering left and right to make sure the flex hose does not pull tight.
As @Pighead said, it is pretty common to go directly to the caliper, I have done a few. But they all needed a longer flex hose.

I'm pretty sure i ordered the right one. It's the correct shape but has the wrong fittings. Maybe from a different year? It's a used part.

Take the fittings off the one that broke and bend/flare a new one with the correct bend. Easy peasy.

I'm not an expert but it looks pretty tight. I'd go a couple inches longer. The less stress you put on that rubber the better.

Agreed. Not long enough.

This was the hose I used. Got the part number off a thread on here.

Not sure of the cut off year, but the older '40s were 9mmx1 thread, followed by the 10mmx1. I save all the fittings and use them on new pieces of hard line that I make. I have a couple of good benders and use the Mastercool hand hydraulic tool.
