Okay, here is the site.

Not sure how good the prices are since the single door is R500 = $250~

I have seen this site before. The pics look a little different than the blue one from TLC. It kind of looks like an extended cab or something. My tile setter is from Brazil so I could possibly get him to help. I would love to get some of that sheet metal. Keep us informed.

Shane:

I heard there were four TLC4x4 Bandi crew cabs built: two a bluish shade, one green, one uncertain-- all stayed in California.
AFAIK a green one was commissioned by Toyota-USA built on a Tacoma frame, one was apparently sold to a customer named Guy in Bakersfield, one to Mickey Drexler(The Gap/J. Crew) in San Francisco, and one kept back by Jonathan Ward in Van Nuys. Pls correct me if I'm mistaken.
So who daily-drives in the pictured ski town, or was one of them just out vacationing?

Anyway, $85,000 would be an old price for that kind of a build-- if TLC4x4 were to do any more, would likely be well over $100K at their current pricing, with or without new sheet metal.

I understand all the factory-built 4-door crew cabs were sold to utility companies, and a few went to the Brazilian military. When and if the 4-door versions come onto the used market, most will likely be pretty thrashed. Then we'll really need this sheet metal supplier!!

By the way, anyone know the wheelbase on these big boys?

i think an LV would not make a good donor rig to build a crew cab. you'd be much better off starting with a 40 and modifying it. a lot easier to come by also.

i met guy wilson at the bakersfield ralley last year also. prior to that we had talked on the phone a few times. jonathan had asked a few times to buy the crew cab back from him since he has more than one customer chomping at the bit. guy declined.:)

from what i hear, jonathan is working on bringing more of them into the country but they're all spoken for already. and we're not talking big numbers here, just a few.
but that's all hear-say so please don't quote me on this stuff. fairly reliable source afaic just the same.

i'd love to see more of these rigs up here in the states.

Gee, I wonder what happened to the drivetrains from those 4 trucks?

i agree, much less likely to be as rusty. ;) but i happen to have one lv sitting there so i thought maybe if it did not sell i could use it? but again, too much work to be done before you could even begin the conversion to crew cab.
