Brake lines

Heading to NAPA tomorrow to get brake lines. The 30+ year old lines on my truck need to be replaced before I go to the LSLC Round-up. Has anyone used the lines that skip the backing plate on the front? How easy is it to do? The part number I have for that line is 38878. Is that right?

I have (I've got a disk brake conversion) and I think there is too much "twist" in the brake lines, unless you move the anchor tab on the axle. I didn't do that.

I'm going back to the toyota IFS style, where the brake line runs to the top of the knuckle / backing plate, and then a hard line runs down to the caliper.

I'll post up pictures when I can.

I agree with your P/N - I used the 38878. The fittings and length is OK.

I just got the stock ones. The design has worked for 31 years. Why not stick with it?

I purchased some stainless braded one's from Man A Fre. I just rec'd a great looking SS front axle hard line from Classic Tube (I believe that's the name, it's classic something or another) yesterday. Saw a post in the 40 section.

$34.00 for both pieces.

I've yet to hear of someone not happy with the classic tube product.
