1989 FJ62. Replaced brakes all the way around recently. Had a very hard pedal and a hissing noise from where the booster comes through the firewall.

After I removed the old booster a significant amount of brake fluid poured out of the vac port.

What has malfuctioned to cause brake fluid to be in the booster? Is this normal at all?

It is a never ending journey to continue to diagnose my brake problems. Although tonight after putting the new/used booster on I finally had brakes!! I am just worried that something else may be wrong and I may ruin my new/used booster that I just put on.:bang:

Thanks for any help thrown my way.

Kenley

fluid in booster means the master cylinder was bad.
the fluid isn't good for the diaphram.

I hope the master cyl. was replaced?? Thats where the juice came from..........

like they said before. ill say again.

fluid is from a leaking master cylinder. if not replaced it will destroy your new/ used booster as well.

You all have confirmed my fears. Thanks for the help. I did not replace the MC but I will begin that process now.

Thanks again,
Kenley
