Brake booster failed driving home yesterday. Has anyone had to replace theirs? A few brands offer an upgraded dual booster- any opinions on these? It's hard to tell if they mean it's an upgrade from the single or upgrade to the dual.

Sorry, that's important to mention! 80 series, 94

I've heard really great things about going from single to double baffle. I'm trying to do the same thing on my 1995 FZJ75.

The one I bought seems to not fit with my Troopy, but let me know what booster you decide. I'll upload a Pic of mine to see if this is the part you need.

I believe the 80s, at least US, all came with dual. Ours had a dual, so we won't be getting a single. There's just not much info/specs out there

I had to unbolt the engine mount and lift a few inches to get mine to clear. Note that it might just be a bad check valve so might test.

Diaphragm is torn 😞

Doesn't say specifically that it is dual diaphragm, but it looks pretty close to the 40series one that is.

I had to replace mine a few years ago. Noticed a huge increase in breaking power once I finally did that but unlike Frank I did not have to take the motor mount lose to get it out but I did have to shoe horn the hell out of it. If there's a way to use hydroboost or some type of vacuum assist to increase the breaking power that'd be great but I think the only way we'd ever be able to get any better breaking is you have to replace the whole system and beer calipers bigger rotors

Bye bye tax refund 😂

I run Hydroboost on my Chevelle. Overall I enjoy it, and it was a nice upgrade to my brakes after I built the big block and made less vacuum. Couple things I learned along the way:

1. For me a higher output pump improved braking. I went from a 1200 psi pump to a 1500psi pump and liked the change.
2. Lots of folks run the low pressure returns to a T fitting and then run one return line back to the pump. When I changed pumps my new pump had dual inlets and that uncomplicated my hose routings and cut down on airation I was having (changing pumps likely had more to do with solving this problem).
3. GM branded PS fluid held up better against airation than auto parts stores.
