Yep, all the washes, creeks and rivers were in full force on the way back up to Sedona from Phoenix today. Phoenix almost looked tropical today ;) Nice to see after such a dry spell...

Hopefully this next storm (if it hits us) will be colder since it's coming thru NCal and Oregon, and drop a ton of snow instead of rain.
DD, sounds like we're gonna have to have another get-together soon?

heh heh :flipoff2:

All Joe Satriani shows were cancelled due to Pneumonia... A real Bummer hope he gets well soon. They are planning on re-scheduling early in 05. Hopefully we can make it then

Reno Pass too

On Wednesday I took out the husband and son of a friend of my wife. They're from Cape Cod MA. Never been wheelin' before and I promised them a trip even if the rain came. Our plan was to run Reno Pass with a couple of friends. We got to the wash crossing at Bushnell Tanks and this is what we found. I wasn't surprised but had to try. I attached a strap to the back and waded the Cruiser in to test the depth. The 1st 5 feet I sank in the mud, a little farther and I knew it was a no go. I would be way deep in the middle, and it was moving fast. Not being one to be exibited on the evening news we turned around. We ended up going over 4 peaks. Had a little fun while side tracked on another road. When we were at the top it was like a hurricane up there. Sideways buckets of rain! Pretty fun all in all, no problems and an adventure to remember.

Some people in my club went to watch the water being released out of Hoseshoe Dam the other day. So much water came out that it flooded the only way out. Shreiff's office had to radio in a helicopter to fly them and a few other groups of people out. Free copter ride but they had to leave their vehicles out there.

On a side note, my wife and I drove today to where the Gila meets the Salt river... no sign of any significant water.

More real rain predicted for the Phoenix area this week. The Oak Creek is still pumpin out high volumes of water. Drove up the canyon yesterday on the way up to Flag. Truly amazing!

The Police came around last night. They are knocking on doors in the areas along the Oak Creek passing out Safety flyers. The authorities are thinking this will be another BIG one, with the rains predicted tonight and the rest of the week.

Flyer download PDF 4.9meg

Got your water wings ready?
Doing the math in my head...
Already swollen creek, somewhat saturated washes, etc, and similar rains predicted.
The Creek will likely flow over the bridge this time. :D

Oh, and in case you can't figger it out, my day got called on account of the rain.
Likely tomorrow as well.

You will miss the action her but I bet my Land Cruiser garage it will rain in Kauai while you are there :flipoff2:

Have a great time on the island

dd, you should take more pictures!

Well we lucked out for the most part, as most of the precip. in the higher elevations turned to snow. The Verde here in Cottonwood got to around 3000 CFS, and the Oak Creek is about the same. Tons of snow...TONS! We just have to pray the next storms coming are cold too, that way we get plenty of snow and keep the flooding to a minimum.
