Long time lurker... in fact, since i completed my 42 i've been ''casually looking'' for a 45. I guess it got serious when i passed on this beauty for 500$:
After letting another one go near Edmonton (deal didn't feel right.... seller was way more into the money than the truck, price kept going up...) I could say i was dismayed.
Mud to the rescue: rumor had it Steve at EBI had one. Since I was going to Vancouver anyways, what could wrong?
I went, kicked the tires for 4 hours, and let to go skiing at whistler. Then i went back, kicked the tires again for a few more hours and despite myself, I knew my goose was cooked. While i paid market value for it, the fact that I was dealing with a standup guy and the spare parts that got included made me feel pretty good about the deal.
A few months later and this showed up:
Tucked it in and started planning the work:
I was told this truck sat for a long time and the bottom end seemed to corroborate that story. It needed a re seal. So I threw myself down the rabbit hole here:
2F compression numbers - how deep to go into engine?
And I couldn't be happier. I am basking in being good and truly addicted to land cruisers. The fact that I have a ''stable'' is kinda fun too. now just need a bigger garage....
