Too far north. Too far east.
There is this question over in the mini section asking if a FZJ80 wheel will fit on a mini solid axle. The issues are not just the backspacing, but clearance on the rod ends. Generally us solid axle mini folks use 3.5" - 3.75" BS 15" wheels. I can tell you that 3.75" backspacing will hit the boots on the stock push-pull rod ends. It's not a problem with cross-over steering. The question is what is the backspacing on an 80-series wheel, and will the 16" wheels clear the rod ends and calipers?

I would like to borrow a wheel and try on. I don't need a tire. Anybody have their alloy take-offs lying around I could try?

I know @mbarela has a spare set as do I.

Jon -
If you are still looking to set something up, I could bring one on the snow run on Sunday. I know you were a maybe for that, but I could drop it off at your place on the way home if you don't make it.

EePappy, let me know , you are more then welcome to use one of the wheels I have. I believe you live fairly close to me.

i also have wheels with no tires... cone style lugnuts if that mattered.

They did manage to answer the question. They do fit.
