dont use heat!!!! i know theres lots of reinforcing ribs in the floor so its probably not going to warp but if you dont have to apply heat to metal....DON'T. use a chemical stripper, or an abrasive wheel or have it blasted. im a welder/custom metal fabricator by trade and adding heat is the last option.

I'm a wire brush guy.

But take what I say with a grain of salt, I've learned to embrace the bondo.
It make life so much easier when you don't have to worry about body damage.

Whatever you do, use a high particulate filter/mask to keep from inhaling the dust. The older bondo had some asbestos in it. And some of the stuff on 40+ year old trucks is bound to contain it.

I ended up going with the knotted wire wheel. It's working pretty well, just messy and tedious. And I'm wearing a mask.

Let sleeping Bondo lie.

If it is rusted underneath and bubbling, then it has to go, but what's the point in taking it off, if it is OK?

You just going to put it back on or look at the ugly surface that is is covering?
