I beat @Wompom to installing it :flipoff2::smokin::p
Yeah you did!
I have 2/3 boxes. Gonna do turbo and suspension overhaul all at once!
Can't wait to get it on there. Though having a weird little inconsistent shake at idle that I can't tell if is a motor mount or something else. Motor only has 20k on it so hard to believe it's something mechanical.

my motor mounts were FUBARED with 187k on them. Rotted and ripped. I would buy OEM mounts. The chinese ones at $30ea tempted me but I don't want to do it again. OEM ones are not cheap. Driver side usually the worst and you might be able to get away with just 1. I did both cause motor was out and it was a "WYIT" (while your in there).

I wish i had done em when i had the motor out. Mine only have 105k on em but they're 24 years old now so that may have something to do with it

Getting antsy to get this thing in!

It would suck bad. It's possible but you'll ideally need a cherry picker to lift it a 1-3 inches and do 1 side at a time. Important. Do only one side at a time. You can loosen both sides but leave the nuts on that one side. You will hate life if you loosened lifted the engine out and will fight trying to get it back in.

I've heard people get away with using a floor jack (wood) on the engine pan to lift it. But that puts a lot of weight on the pan.

Easiest way by far. I need to do it and will likely just unbolt the bottom of the mounts and lift the whole drivetrain as much as i can (without crushing heater lines behind the motor) and wish i had smaller hands.
Luckily we have access in the fender wells too.

Anyone else like the idea of a WITS END sponsored trophy for the sucker who gets the most expensive speeding ticket once their turbo is installed? Ha! :flipoff2:
I'm trying real hard not to win this trophy. I do not like the sound of my insurance rates going up :ninja:

Yup def. remove both tires and squeeze your body and head around to get the mounts in. You'll still hate life!

Unbolt the fan and remove the heat shields on the manifolds.

FWIW
Joey got me. I just ordered two new motor mounts. The transfer of insurance money continues.

5 of these just showed up today, but sadly, still no turbo. There is a hollow void of darkness on the passenger side of my engine compartment that needs to be filled.

Good to know. I have access to a tractor which would be the cherry picker, effectively. We have done headers on my brothers 4th gen and if memory serves me correct, we had to lift the engine for that as well. Decisions, decisions. I think what it boils down to is Joey just wants more of my money. :moon:

Yea its missing a Meth kit for more power. I want a full refund now. Haha:flipoff2::steer::grinpimp:

Seriously its so f' fast it aint funny. I chirped tires in 2nd gear at rolling speed. Let's just say I wasn't doing speed limit driving home. No im not telling you how fast I went and writing it down at least. I really need to becareful and take it easy so I don't get tickets.

It feels way faster than my old bone stock 2006 doublecab Tundra 4.7 v8.

First you don't sell me a boost gauge.

Then you spend all the $$$ on extras.

Now I need the Joey Kit plus a bunch of NASA heat wrap.

Seriously I want to see this thing in the wild!
