Cost. There are still some guys in Australia selling the ratcheting version.
What’s “earlier”? My 94 doesn’t have that noise. It purrs.

i "think" you will need a new crankshaft that has the ring on it for the sensor. the easy answer is no.

if you really want to go turbo then just get a stand alone and make big boost. i mean why half ass it :D

Full ass ain't gonna happen.

I have a new short block manufactured this year I'll ask Beno if the crank has a tone ring.
A friggin turbo would really get me going!

Just cruised 800 miles from 600’ to 6900’ in the 94. My mechanic recently flow-matched my injectors and replaced the fuel filter after a tank of bad gas. What a cluster that was. Anyway, it ran awesome, better than it ever has. A little boost would make it perfect. Need to get past this obd1 issue. I will say that the trans tunnel is very warm after an 800 mile drive.

Oh man @ThomasMore66 some great new exciting stuff! But I can't show you. But man it is looking good!
Damnit! I just made my Christmas 1600 mile round-trip drive from Dallas to Durango in my 1994 and I thought about boost a lot! I dreamed about turbos last night. Whether to rebuild the engine first...think about it every day. I will say that the 1994 is running much better after the post hurricane Harvey OMG-we’re-running-out-of-gas-appocopytic-gasoline-crisis of 2017. One bad tank of gas lead to me having to seek professional help and ultimately flow-matching of the injectors (along with some other stuff). It did shift down on long grades, but I sat the cruise between 65 and 77-ish with a couple of 90 mph blasts to pass semis.

Gas mileage still sucked.

Wait what? Your 80 can get to 90mph? Why do you want boost? Pretty sure model 80 is named because the top speed is 80....down hill.

Clearly not climbing a hill

While I cannot admit my car can go that fast, I know for a fact it can go that fast, or faster.

It's not about the top speed, but how fast you can get there. Boost is always a good thing.

I’m the first to admit I’m not as hardcore an off-roader as some of you guys. Yes, I still have the third row in both my 80’s. Just used those seats to haul 5 people and two dogs out to the hills around Durango. More hp improves the drivability.
