K.. so I searched and see that it comes from the cam.

Does the 2f trick of TDC work for lining it up to prime, or does this thing need to spend to get oil?

Turned it by hand till I found it.

One hand on the screwdriver, one on the crank.

I have oil ;)

Hey howdy hey, it's Goin home. :bounce:

I'll button it up when I have some more daylight, but it's feeling good right about now.

Long week at work, but back after it.

Does that dizzy look correct (ballpark)?

Adjusting the valves now (cold though). There's no play in them at all.

Numbers moved up from 50-75 range to 120 range. I'll revisit after its warm and running.

Do these sound too low? I'm at 8,000 (give or take).

The starter was cranking slow as well, I expect it to come up after break in and re-visit.

Darn thing won't start

I have spark, and the fuel leaking from the cracked tab on the intake manifold says I have fuel, but I'm getting nada.

I used the mark after the by at TDC when I stabbed the dizzy.

Any thoughts?

Spark plug only fire every other time on a four stroke engine. Dist could be installed 180 degrees off.

My coil was shot

It runs like a champ.
Victory!!!!

Cylinder numbers are currently at 130ish across the board. Super pleased.

I did Crack my line to oil filter though (it's currently sleeved with another hose and some clamps)

Nice work, I might have that oil line. If I can find it, it's yours. -Steve

Evidently it was weak. My oldest knocked a motor over during the swap, and dented it.

Must have fried shortly after I tested it.
I heard it burp a couple times, and it must have let out the mystery smoke.
It purrrrs

And now...

I was in Jackson Hole WY for a dozen years or so.
We made the move closer to my folks (Prescott az) a couple summers ago. Good for the kids (I have three), and there's two colleges available for them here.

Way better 4wheeling as well.
Far milder winter as too. It snowed 750 inches the last winter I was up there.
