It appears my block will be getting decked shortly. I'm having a senior moment and I seem to recall that maybe the water pump needs to be attached when this occurs? Is this right or was my time misspent in the late 80's early 90's catching up with me.

I thought it was the timing belt housing.

Yep timing chain cover, if not the head won't sit flat when you put it back on.
