The blend door on my 93 is apparently stuck open. There is no heat when you turn the heater on and there is cold air that comes in thru the vents during any drive in cold weather. No water on floor, no overheating. Heater valve has been replaced, just in case and appears to be functioning.
Took it to a shop and they said that mice have been in there and probably jammed the blend door. It would cost over $600 to fix it.
A friend who has done other work on the rig may be willing to fix it. He'd like more info on the exact location of the blend door and any tips. We'd probably have him replace the heater core while he's got everything taken apart.

Did you ever diagnose if this was the blend door? I am in the same situation right now and assuming the same.

There's a diagram and complete troubleshooting procedure in the FSM. I added an excerpt containing just this section in the 80 series Resources section. It's for the '95 model, but I'd think it would be the same for the '93 (I haven't verified this, but the '93 FSM is also in the Resources section).

I'm looking at the same diagram in the hopes of figuring out why the "face" mode isn't operational. Every other mode works just fine. Let me see which way mode control levers situated because they should be at positions 8, 12, 15, 19. It could be something as simple as a connector coming loose.

My air mix damper servo had a wire nut jambed in it from a previous s*** job radio install. It would click and hold the damper open only allowing hot air. You need this part

It’s an easy fix but you literally take the whole dash apart since it sits on top of the coil in the center of the dash. It’s a long hourly job and $600 is just shop hours. Not too bad. I paid $750 for Dajda’s to fix mine when I first got my 97. In hindsight I would do it myself today because I have a squeaky dash that I’m sure came from Their failure to replace a screw or two or didn’t tighten everything or tuck it all back the same way I would have.

There are 3 mix motor thingys total. I had the same issue 'til I bit the bullet and removed my dash. Yes it sucked, not as bad as I thought but it was a pain. I had 2 of the 3 servos stuck. Junkyard servos installed, AC is Ice cold again.

What was your issue that took you down this horrible path?

Hot/Cold air blend door was stuck in the middle, always shooting out hot and cold air together. Eventually it started making noise trying to move to where it was supposed to be, I had to keep my temp sliding control in the middle, if I set it on fully cold it would start making noise. When I took the dash out, noticed that the one closer to driver side was also stuck. After the dash is out replacement is pretty straight forward.

ok, thanks for clarifying. I have a different issue, and I'm hoping not to have to remove the freaking dash!!

It's not that bad. It's not like you're replacing the PHH or anything.
