Ahoy there.

Thought I´d throw in a few pics for your viewing pleasure :)

I´m participating in an ongoing project to log all the mountain tracks in Iceland, I drove 2 days this week loging track in a volcanic desert called "Sprengisandur" or Blastsands if I translate it, just so you get a feeling for the place it´s a very desolate place, but beautiful in it´s own right.

So basicly I´m getting paid to wheel

there was supposed to be a track there somewhere but we couldn´t find it.

the cruiser well labeled, since when doing this I have permission to basicly drive where I please if I´m trying to find a track :grinpimp:

this is the lady from the National land survey. She logged the tracks as I drove them.

if you look closely you can see the sand blowing in the air.
There are stories from this place of cars that came back without paint and matted glass

quite the view :) this is ÞJórsá, the longest river in Iceland (230km). it´s damed further down in several places and makes some 400MW.

Hofsjökull. Probably the most dangerous glacier in Iceland I´d say, you don´t drive over that thing unless you have a deathwish or just plain like falling down cravases ....

...and of course my wheel bearings had to die :S
...repairing in the desert is like having sex on the beach, sand gets EVERYWHERE.

had to get creative to remove the wheel.

the track followed this canyon for a few kms, quite special seeing something as spectacular as this knowing that hardly anyone has come this way for quite some time.

How fun! To be paid to wheel. Nice pics.

amazing scenery, i really want to take my 60 there sometime.

How often do you use the 4 wheel drive during summer on trips like this one?

If a Land Cruiser falls down, and no one is around to hear it...

I guess we're all assuming this is happening somewhere out there, so yes, it still breaks down?

A beautiful piece of planet earth. Thanks for showing it to us.

Between the beastly cruisers in general, the presence of HJ61s, the women, and the natural beauty of the island, Iceland makes my top 5 global destinations.

The word you are looking for is "river-spanning cable crossing" or "cable crossing". Nothing sexier-sounding than that, not that I am aware of. We just steal other people's words, bastardize how it is pronounced, and call it "English". I don't think the Icelandic word will stick over here, you guys use too many damn vowels and umlauts and weird letters that look beautiful, but make Yanks's butts clench in confusion. Icelandic alphabet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Awesome pictures... thanks for sharing. I will be back in Iceland again soon hopefully. :)

fantastic scenery, you could drive forever and never get bored, question about that 61, i saw it had coils, what the go there?

Nice pics there LoneRanger :)

regarding the coils, I have coils from a nissan patrol front and rear, and radius arms from a nissan patrol also in the front, 4 link (or 5 link I guess) in the rear.

Need to swap them out for something stiffer soon, they are a bit too soft. But I have 80 series bump stops in the rear and they help make things bearable.

and if any of you guys wanna weel over here there is a car rental here with 38" modded Land Rovers here :P
http://www.isak.is/ I think their page was :)
