I can't get my truck in the garage and it's windy here at the moment so I had to make do with a tarp for shelter and at times it was a bit stressful when the vinyl would start flapping about and bits of dandilion sead were somehow still getting under the tarp! When I was peeling the backing off I kept stopping to spray what I'd uncovered so far and it paid off because it did fold over on itself a couple of times :frown: Turned out ok but I don't know how :D Oh and don't forget to reconnect your windscreen squinters when you're done

jon/wildsmith...i'd still prefer it to cover a bit more forward of the bonnet/hood than it does in your pic. yes yes personal preference and all that. I've already seen isotels pic where it makes it look silver thus doing its job! Even with postage his is cheaper than local here by far!
Anyway. Whats that scoop for? Intercooler?
cheers

I like that it isn't any longer, first because it's a handful at its current size and I don't think bigger would be a diy job and second I sometimes have an event organizers sticker in that remaining space that comes off after the event which would be a problem if it were on top of that vinyl.

The scoop is for cooling, has a 10" fan under there and there's another one in front of theATF cooler. When the rad is clean no extra cooling is needed but on some trips you can't help but get the rad clogged up with mud and it always seems to be hot when that happens and you have to sit with the heater on to keep the engine from overheating, no thanks!

jon i drive mine to work in Melbourne and sit in traffic for f'ing many many minutes where i am sitting there in neutral, and just listening to the radio and mine never overheats. Even in Melbournes horrible 40C + temps...
Stock everything except the highly modified exhaust and the exterior mods of course. Why would you need the scoop and the fan ???
just curious
pm me if you want

Although, can you post on here what you did re: the scoop and fan? thx - different thread maybe? if you have already slap me around with a trout and point me to it? ta.

Finally got mine!!!!!!

After much deliberation and research on getting the compas added to mine, I gave up and went with the standard one. I think it looks great and makes the LX look sharp.

Looks great - did you have any trouble removing the wiper nozzles?

Take your time with a pocket size screwdriver, and it will pop right out, two tabs front and rear, get one side out just slightly, then pop the other out. make sure the DS goes back on that side so you dont have to re-aim them

up5799,

they were easy. A small flat blade screwdriver and a little wood wedge 1/2 the thickness of a pencil to pry against. A little in the front then a little in the back. Don't disconnect the hose at the nozle, Go to the next junction and disconnect them there as they are almost impossible to re-attach at the nozle. Not enough play.

Go for it, as it is easy. The vinyl is a little challenging to work with and it takes two to do it right. After i got mine on, i put it in the sun and it started to bubble. I ran some errands and at each stop (10 minutes) i would take a soft cloth and work out the bubbles. Now it is on there to stay.

Dan,

Two questions -

1. How did you loosen the rubber tube carrying the washer fluid to the nozzle - I tried to pull it apart at the nearest junction but it was firmly attached.

2. Did you wrap around your decal to the back of the hood or cut it off as the instructions suggest?

I've been waiting on this project for a long time - now that summer is here, time to get to work!

You might try twisting the tube to break it free but it just pulls off. Even thought i cleaned the back under-side of the hood i couldn't get it to adhere. I ended up cutting it off. It didn't come out as well as i would have liked but it is not in a noticeable spot. Keep you faith when applying the wrap as it has a tendency to test it.......

I had a couple of spots where my fingers toughed the front edge and at first those spots would not stick. Keep working it down and eventually it will stick. Mine has been on for a while now and it is awesome!!!!!!!!

You will love the results

Any plans to offer them for CJs, YJs, and TJs? You have them for JKs on your site, but there is a huge market for the older models still. I'd love one for my YJ

Any long term evidence on what goes on under these things. I've been tempted to do a full hood wrap but worry about rust. I am not a paint chemist so I have no idea what may or may not go one under there.

I wouldn't think you'd have too much to worry about rust wise, it seems like its just one big bumper sticker. How ever I would be afraid that it would melt or bubble from heat.

Are these still available? The link said no...

I'll take one!
